How many of you have ever received compliments from your kids? I'm talking about something that really blows your mind and let you know that being a "Great" parent to them is not going unnoticed.

Well I am a single parent of a "BRILLIANT" 9 yr old kid. Yesterday was his birthday and we decided against a birthday party because 90% of his friends are on vacation until August. So I bought him Toy Story Legos and a "Gotta Be Kidding" board game, cooked his favorite steak dinner and went to his martial arts lesson.

Last night while we were on the floor playing Legos and Gotta Be Kidding, their was a question that you ask your opponent, I forget how it went but he says to me "Mom your not that because, YOU ARE AWESOME!! YOU PLAYED WITH ME ALL DAY, YOU SUNG HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME AND YOU DO ALOT FOR ME MOM!!" OMG THIS FELT AS IF I HAD WON THE POWERBALL!! I just had to share this story with you guys to let you know that our jobs are not going unnoticed!! WAY TO GO MOMS!!!

GOD BLESS US ALL

My kids have done many wonderful things for me, but the one that blew me away was this: (Bear in mind, I was an 18 year old single mom when I had him)
When my oldest son Dylan was 12, asked me, "Mom, why would a woman ever have an abortion?"
I replied, "Well, honey, there are many reasons why a woman would have an abortion. She may be young, and scared. She may be afraid to tell her parents. She might have a boyfriend or husband that doesn't want the baby, or they are abusive. She might be afraid of everyone judging her. Have nowhere to go or no means to care for a baby, and she just doesn't think she can handle it."
"Oh." he replied. "Thanks mom."
"For what?" I asked.
"For not aborting me, and letting me live."
I still cry when I think of this conversation! I'm crying now as I type it! What an extraordinary young man! At 12, he understood what I went through, even though I had never told him! My life was blessed more by his coming into this world, than the hardships I endured.
And now, that young man is out of high school and in AIT, training to go to Afghanistan with his National Guard Unit. Where did the time go?
God Bless life!

Awww! He sounds so sweet. My oldest is 21 months now and the other day I was wearing sweatpants, had my hair straight and a little make up. I felt horrible and was super tired. I handed my little girl her breakfast and she says "mama pretty" I turned and was shocked she started giggling and kept repeating it all day. I started laughing after each time she did it and by the end of the day she knew she had me in a better mood lol. She had never said that to me. She had said diffrent things were pretty, but on one of my down days she tells me I was pretty and it lit up my day :)

How sweet!

My son is 4 and he recently told me "You're the best mommy I have ever had. I'm so happy to be your boy!"

His sincerity was so cute, I overlooked the fact that I'm the ONLY mommy he's ever had :-)

Older children do that too! My son (9) is always the one to dish out the compliments. But last year we were at a pre-school function for my little girl and I told him that he did not have to come, that he could have stayed home with dad, his response was......"No mom I had to go, we are family and this is something I wanted to do to support my little sister." When those moments hit, I feel like wow I have did things right!

Today, while eating her happy meal, my 2 1/2 year old was calling me to clean her up. I yelled from her room that I was doing to laundry and to ask daddy to do it. She said, "No, I want my best friend mommy to do it." :)
We about melted!
I ♥ when they are so lovey!

What a great reminder that children don't require all the latest and greatest electronic gizmos and gadgets, nor all the things that money can buy....they just want their parents to be there with them....really with them! What a neat day for both of you!

As a single mom myself, I know that's not easy to spend the WHOLE day focused on your child. WOW...and what an inspiring story. Thank you. I think I'll give it a try. In the end, THAT'S truly all that matters.

Bless you mom! ;o)
