Cleaning Stainless Steel Cookware

Hi moms! I was wondering if anyone else has had stubborn food stains on their stainless steel cookware. My loving father was here last week and he loves to cook, but doesn't know how to cook on stainless steel, he has all non-stick cookware. Needless to say I can not get the cooked on chicken fat off the sides of my pan. I cooked with the pan again last night, thinking that the heat might help and then soaked it in hot soapy water. Still can't get everything off. Any ideas?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Bar keepers friend it is! I just ordered some and I can't wait to try it out. Thanks for advice. I knew there was a way to get it clean other than elbow grease. I did try the baking soda and it helped, but there is still some chicken fat on the sides.

Amen to the Bar Keeper's Friend products. You need something that is going to 'grab' onto the mixture of fat that remains on the pan. Put a little powder in the pan, add a little bit of water to make a paste, use a soft cloth to wipe out the pan, and it should come out with very little effort.

We bought some stainless steel cookware about three months ago and I cook scrambled eggs in it, which has not come out no matter how many times I put it in the dishwasher or scrub it. Finally, my husband called the manufacturer's 800 number and they said to first heat the pan for 2-3 minutes and then melt butter in it. Then to warm the eggs (or whatever you are cooking) under warm water for a little bit and then place them in the pan. They said that if you still have some stubborn stains on the pan (which we still did even after doing all this), to use Barkeeper's Friend to get them off. Works like a charm!

Hi Tricia,

I also recommend using Dobie pads as your scrubber. They are really great and won't hurt the stainless steel. You can buy them at Jewel. Pampered Chef plastic scrapers also work very well with getting stuff off of stainless steel.

Best of luck!!!

Tricia

I have products that I purchase through my company that have been real effective. I know that you are not looking to purchase products but on the other hand maybe this might be the time to use products that don't have chemicals and yet get that pan and other things clean around your home.

Let me know if you would like to meet. I am particular about getting things clean again. Like new would be nice but next to like new woould be just as nice. S. K.

Yes, Bar Keeper's Friend works great for the stuck on foods, and using that Pampered Chef scraper thingy is very effective, too.
Now, what do you do if you have the "heat stains" on the pans? You know, not cooked on foods, but the stains that just seem to appear after cooking and don't want to go away...
(Sorry, I just had to jump in on this!)
The Pampered Chef has a new stainless cookware cleaner that makes those stains disappear and makes your cookware look like new again! Yep, you guessed it, I'm a consultant...
If you'd like to check it out or contact me, you can reach me at ____@____.com
Good luck, and love your stainless!
