Cleaning Slate Flooring

I have slate flooring in my kitchen, and I just can't seem to ever get it very clean. (I sweep it and then mop it with water mixed with a solution made for slate floors.) Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Is a steam mop effective for slate?

What can I do next?

I sell a non-toxic cleaner that is a fabulous product. I use it on my Mexican tile, pergo, wood, silestone counters. I would think it work great on slate too as long as it IS SEALED. It works on stone, tile, clay, granite if sealed. This stuff is amazing on more than all this. I use it to clean just about everything! And it comes concentrated so it lasts forever.

Are you sure it was sealed properly? You can buy the solution at home depot and places like that. You just pretty much mop it onto your clean floor. I have slate and it needed to be re-sealed and now it looks so much better and cleaner. Good luck!

Does the floor have a clear sealant on it? If so, periodically it needs to be stripped and redone by a pro. The product you are using to clean with - is it acid base? If not, it needs to be.
