I need some suggestions for hosting my son's class Christmas Party! He's in 3rd grade. I have some time left but need to start getting organized and throw some suggestions at his teacher, but don't know where to begin. This is my first time as my son's room mom and I LOVE it, but have a mental block on what all to do! Thanks in advance for any suggestions! :)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your suggestions! I've met with some other room moms and teachers and we are holding the 3rd grades classes parties all together! There is only 3 classes currently, so the students will have 3 stations of games, crafts, and snacks! I'm very excited to help pull this one off! Thanks! Merry Christmas and God Bless each and every one of you!

I was a room Mom last year for my 2nd grader and now this year for my Kindergartener. Are all of the 3rd grade room moms not getting together to have a mtg. so that all classes do the same kind of thing? This is what our school does. But anyway, if they don't, some ideas that we did in our class was make snowmen out of tube socks-it was very cute and they loved them. We played Bingo as well and they won pencils, erasers etc. For snacks they got to decorate their own snowman cookie and they loved it!!! For the craft and the bingo you can find them online. We also played a game like Hot Potato and they passed around a box and as the music stopped the kid holding the box unwrapped a layer of wrapping paper-they had no idea how many times the box was wrapped, and after about the 7 or 8th round they got to the bottom of the box and inside the box was the party favor bags for all the kids. We had all the parents donate items for the treat sacks or for the snacks, in addition to their snowman cookies. It was fun. HTH

I always loved getting picture frames my kids made at school for Christmas with their picture.. You could start name laminating the different things they may need for instance. My daughter's was a laminated bell and her picture was on top and a little red bow on top. Also they have all kinds of crafts online etc. Have each child bring some kind of treat of food for the party etc. Also cards.. Kids love to make cards for family etc.

I'm room mom this year too. We're doing a New Year's party:

Activities:
-Countdown, and at the end everyone jumps on bubble wrap
-craft: making noise makers out of beans and TP tubes
-Time capsule to be opened at the end of year party

Hope this helps - we're really excited about it!

J.,

We palyed bingo and I had stuff from the $1 store as gifts. We played about 5 games per party. Or you may speak w/the teacher and ask for passes as prizes like a free homework pass or an extra 10 point credit pass and so on.

We also did crafts too! Have the kids make their mom and dad an Xmas card or something like that!

Good luck and have fun!
