Does anyone know of any good day care places in the Richmond/Sugar Land area. I’m looking for someone that will teach my child as well as keep up w/the potty training I’ve been working on. I’m looking to place my child into daycare Nov. 1st. (2 year old)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I'm still searching for a PT day care & full time day care for next yr. I've checked the CPS website but really haven't had any luck.

When you have a few to evalute show up un- announced so you can see how things are generally run. My kids are now in middle school and high school - but you can tell alot by what goes on in the middle of the day and what the palce looks like. Don't be fooled by the brand new gorgeous places with expensive toys - I've ended up with a daycare/montessori school that was renting classrooms in a old school building. The low book/toy shelves were not new, the toys were not impressive - but the teachers and helpers were loving, the palce was VERY clean and no matter what time of day I showed up the teachers were engaged with the kids. Daycare school are expensive to run and they can spend money on the staff or on the toys/furniture. Trust your instincts too. Go to a local park on a Saurday morning when working parents take their kids to the park - ask around.

Is Rosenberg too far for you? Noah's Little Ark in Rosenberg is absolutely phenomenal.

I would recommend Primose at Waterside Estates or Primrose in Sugar Land. My son is thriving at the Waterside location, and they potty trained him!

Kids r kids potty trained my daughter when she started ther at 29 months and she was nearly 100 trained by 33 months. Imust add that that her teachers had her on a potty training schedule that I kept her on at home. They did an excellent job with my daughters potty training.

You are going to have a difficult time finding a child care center that will work on potty training at the young age, most 2 year old classrooms are not set up to even start potty training.

Ask the director about potty training first. If you are focused on that then nothing else matters. If they don't do it until they reach the 3 year old classroom you won't need to know anything else about them.

If you find one that says they do potty training in the 2 year old classroom then when you go tour it look to see if the classroom has a bathroom in the classroom, with child size toilets. Sinks and stuff can be in a different area. Look for signs they are actually taking the children to the toilet.

The bathroom needs to be in the classroom for the potty training to be effective. At 2 years old the teacher may have 8-10 children assigned to her and if the bathroom is in another area they have to take the entire class with them when they take your child to use the toilet. That really gets to be a hassle, it just works better if the toilet is in the classroom.

Call your local Resource and Referral service.
Type in NACCRRA into google and they will provide you the contact for your area.
They are so helpful and have tips for parents in identifying quality child care, not just available child care. I wish I had used them with my first, but I got wise and used them for my second and I have been sooo happy with my child care teachers and centers.
FYI: they will help you find in -home or center providers I just preferred centers in my search.
Best of luck!

I found our sitter on our local community website. I sent her site to all of my friends, and it turns out she used to nanny for a good friend of one of my good friends and she came with RAVE reviews - and they were right! Plus by finding her on there she gave me the first week free!! YEA!! Or check if there is a base close to you, they always hve good info on that. Also, Maryland has a website to find childcare providers...I want to say it is mdchildcare.org. So other states might have it also. Good luck!
