Chilcare Concerns

M.W. asks from Lake Saint Louis, MO

I am currently looking for a childcare center for my new baby and I was hoping that someone could recommend a place near me that they trust. OR, if they can give me some advice as to things to look for and ask when I am visiting them. I have heard of places that just let your baby sleep all day and want to avoid these problems. So far all I have to go on is the yellow pages though because I am new to the area. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I never used them, but several friends were very happy with Sandbox. They have many locations in Southland, and are pretty reputable. Infant 'slots' fill up quickly, so call and get on the list even if you decide to go elsewhere. Good luck.

M., I am a mother of two active boys in Oak Forest. If you are looking for a home day care, please e-mail me back and I can give you more info. If you are looking for a day care center, I have heard nothing but good about Boobie Noonans.

Hi,

I know that my friend had to look into this and she liked the Kindercare. You can also check into the website, http://www.naeyc.org/accreditation/search/distance.asp - This shows all child care facilities that have been accredited by the National Association of Education for young children. Any of these places would have to follow the specific guidelines, they don't let just any place get accredited. I'm not sure but I think you could do a search on the internet on child care interviews or something like that to find specific questions to ask.

Hope this helps!

I have heard Tudor Time in Tinley at 80th Ave. and 183rd is a good place.

Depends on your budget. Have your thought about placing an ad in the PennySaver. Your better off finding someone who will come to your home so you dont have to take the baby out.

Good Luck!

Both Children World Learning Centers in Tinley have excellent programs with activities for infants. They actually have a curriculum the teachers follow on a daily basis. There is one on Oak Park and 159th ish (Director is Kerry) and LaGrange and 179th (Director is Suzie).
