Change in Sleeping Habits - Surprise,AZ

My 9 month old daughter has always been fantastic when it comes to sleep. She's been sleeping through the night for a long time now, even through her first two teeth. As of recently, something has gone haywire. I get her to sleep about 8pm, lay her in her crib, and in about 4 hours she's up screaming. The last few weeks I've gotten in the habit of just grabbing her, popping a bottle in her mouth, and putting her in bed with us. She'll then sleep until about 6am. It was so bad the other night, we took in her to the 24 hour pediatrician. We thought she had an ear infection, the doctor said she's fine.
Keep in mind, when I am putting her to sleep, we make sure she has a nice dry diaper, comfy pj's, full tummy, and usually tylenol, since I thought maybe she was in some kind of pain, like her teeth. She also seems extra fussy throughout the day. Crying way more than normal. Not a normal cry either, arching her back, screaming, kicking her feet, it's terrible.
Any ideas moms? We're desperate to figure this out.

K.- I swear I could have written that same exact post! My daughter just turned 9 months last week and is doing the same thing when she never did before! I was convinced it was her teeth and was using Tylenol but it didn't seem to help so we moved to Motrin- still no help. Some friends with older kids say this is a rough age and its likely a combo of teething, separation anxiety setting in (which for some kids can be worse at night) and a growth spurt. In my daughter's case she has also had a major decrease in her milk intake (from 24 to 15 ounces per day) and has started waking an hour earlier each morning as well. I'm hoping this is "just a phase" as I'm sure you are as well. Hang in there and let me know if anyone sheds any more light on the subject for you (us!)!!

We had a similar problem with my son. I could get him in bed, but couldn't get thru the night with out fitful rages and days were getting increasingly difficult. After several days I was lucky enough to notice him react strongly to something he put in his mouth. A quick inspection uncovered an abcessed tooth - an ulcer looking thing in the gum above his tooth. (He had recently chipped that tooth too).
Less than 24 hours of antibiotics and things were back to normal (though we still had to have the tooth pulled).
Hope you find your answer -
T.

The back arching and feet kicking make me think of gas or constipation. Have you given her any new foods recently or have her pooping habits changed? I love Wellement's Organic Gripe Water for tummy problems like gas or constipation.

My son did this at about 9 months. I assumed he may be teething (he didn't get a tooth until 10 1/2 months). He really just was hungry. I was nursing at the time, so I fed him an extra time during the night, and within a couple weeks, he was back to sleeping through the night. An extra snack before bed in addition to nursing didn't work. Tylenol didn't, teething tablets didn't. It was a frustrating couple of weeks. I did not get in the habit of bringing him into our bed, but did spend a couple nights on the futon in the guest room with him. I didn't want to have to break a bad habit once the waking in the middle of the night ended. Hang in there. I'm sure it is "just a phase".

Hey K.!
Not sure this is much help but both my little ones went through the same thing at 9 and then again at about 11 months.. It was a growth spirt and it ended in a few weeks! I just made sure they were dressed nice and toasty but then kept a fan running in the room to make it cooler.. They are 21months and 4 right now and are still great sleepers with a good afternoon nap for both of them! Hang in there it will get better!

you are giving tylenol just in case? that may be causing stomach problems if she is not needing it. Try hylands teething tablets and give only when you see symptoms of teething.
