Whats the best change you've made in your life style for better health?
A few years ago I switched from coffee to tea, and my ph level went down. I felt an over all feeling of better health, adding green tea give antioxidants too.
New were switching to wheat free, what a relief I feel! And most dairy as well. What a difference it makes. We had very little allergic reactions, so it was a hard to to pin point.
What have you done to make a difference in your life, and why?

Whole grains, low-fat dairy, lots of veggies, water, lean meats, and fresh fruits. A variety of all these things together, in regular portions. EATING BREAKFAST! No carbs at dinner or afterwards....hard, as I LOVE popcorn.
I need to do more exercise! I make sure I have some "me" time, for Bible Study, and for exercising, and for puzzles, and for just getting out with other ladies. Get Outside to breath fresh air.

Cutting out butter and using olive oil instead to cook things in. Toast with jam, but no butter. Steaming veggies and using a little butter spray and seasonings instead of drowning them in butter. Also, drinking tons of water. We drink milk with brkfst and dinner, juice with lunch and the rest of the time we drink water (and tea). We try to eat fresh as much as possible and limit what we eat from the freezer and cans. We eat alot more beans and fish then we used to and less beef. I try to keep foods natural with as little processing, preservatives and salt as possible. 6yrs ago before I had kids and became a stay at home mom, I really didn't have a clue, but now I am learning new stuff about health all the time!!!!!

Cut down on sweets particularly baked goods. I love cakes, cookies, muffins, donuts, ice cream, etc. I was a bakery regular in my old neighborhood and I love to bake. The less of the sweets I eat, the less headaches, weight gain, and sugar rushes I have. My moods are also better. I'm eating more vegetables now and I'm much more happier because I feel better physically and mentally. But, I have not completely given up sweets. Every couple of days I crave something, so I give in. If I don't satisfy my craving, I dream of sweets or binge! I wish I didn't crave sweets; it's an addiction that is a constant battle. If you can eat whole foods and natural foods and stay away from bad stuff--congrats! You have alot of willpower.

Hi A.,
My life has changed for the better when I became involved in Market America and started using their products. I am taking a powerful Isotonix form Antioxidant that is giving me energy and improving my health (OPC3) and since I've been on it I've not gotten sick at all and have energy (which is important since I'm breastfeeding and am up a lot at night). I also started doing the Transitions Lifestyle System classes and am learning a lot about eating low glycemic index foods, exercise, stress reduction and the importance of balanced nutrition and eating whole foods (organic) and have changed what I eat and how I shop for food and other products. I buy more on line at my web portal (www.marketamerica.com/jendiehl) and save gas, time and money doing it that way, it's easier! I also am using the enviromentally friendly cleaning products that Market America offers that are non-toxic and don't hurt my pets or children, and they're more effective! I can't say enough about what this business has done for me and my family, it's really changed our lives! IF you want to find out any more please call me at ###-###-#### and I'd be happy to talk with you, visit my web portal when you get a chance and see what all is offered!

I too am into preserving our earth for our children. Beginning of th eyear I cut out caffiene. I feel so much better. Bet thing I ever did. I feed my son only organic foods. I try to make everything.
I find eating healthy is expensive....but what is more expensive....now or later with health bills.
I cloth diaper my son as well. Love it. Really trying to get our house more energy and earth friendly.

I am trying to cut out caffine and then hot chocolate. This is really hard for me. Additionally, I quit eating candy, which is abundant at work.

I also have started to eat more fruit and new veggies. I tried Swiss Chard for the first time and loved it! I started to subscribing to a menu planner that emails to you, created by a nutritionist. She has very healthy foods and introduces veggies that I have never cooked. It makes my life easier. Saving Dinner is what it is called.

I need to give up dairy again (I did 10 years ago and lost so much weight). I need to find time to exercise. I need to get rid of all the excuses and just do it!

oh and I need to see Ann for a massage.

I would love tips...

GREAT Question A.!

I'm a happy "hippy" mum too! My mother thinks that I am more so than she ever was in the 60's and 70's! LOL =)

I have been a vegetarian for over 12 years now. My decision to switch to a meat-free lifestyle was first brought on by familial reasons. I have a family history of heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, and several types of cancers (on both sides - frightening eh?!) My family history/experience spawned my educational career path. My degree is in Sports Medicine with a focus on cardiac-rehabilitation. Then I felt an overwhelming need to reach people on a "preventative" level. Which is what I do now. Why wait until problems arise or become "out-of-control" ... right?!

I even chose to raise my daughter vegetarian too ... with much resistance from her pediatrician (at first!) My daughter is now four and has been off the charts in height/healthy growth since birth ... so she's definitely not deprived or malnourished like many skeptics once assumed.

As an exercise physiologist, public health educator & yoga instructor ... healthy lifestyle choices are paramount in our home ... from nutrition to family oriented exercise/play! We eat organic, no pre-packaged juice (my daughter is allergic to citric/ascorbic acid - which is a preservative/vitamin C additive in some packaged fruits/juices.)

I have also had to be very diligent in my own nutrition. Six-months after our daughter was born, I began developing severe migraines twice/month. Since I was breast-feeding exclusively, medication was not an option. The migraines are primarily triggered by hormonal changes. However I've noticed several nutritional factors that have affected their severity.

It's great to see that so many moms are cultivating healthy lifestyles for their families and themselves! BRAVO!!

Happy Spring!

I started drinkng Rooibos tea. It tastes great and has even more antioxidants than green tea. It is also safe to give to my 2 year old.

I also started using non-toxic cleaners in my home. This has made a huge difference for me, since I was having problems breathing during cleaning.

We try to eat as many fresh organic foods as possible and limit eating out. It is so much safer to prepare your own food! I can't wait to start shopping at the farmer's markets again.

Our next change will be adding an air purifier to our home. I really think this is going to make a huge difference in our health.

I became a Massage Therapist! Why? I suffered Rheumatoid Arthritis on the moderate - severe side after my son was born (and it previously started when I was only 17 yrs old).

Now, I have put this into submission (by using pure-organic essentials along with cold-pressed oils that I purchase from a France distillery as most in health food stores/ catalogs are tainted... as well using Reflexology.), and I use only organic products in home and work. I eat healthy and to my body type. I have plenty of access to healthy supplements to keep me on my path. Doing the work I do keeps me physically fit enough.

Sometimes that is all it takes. I love what I do and I enjoy helping others that suffer or are just plain stressed. I was tired of the medical society not listening to me and thinking that I was making up my aches and pains. I also hate that they over-prescribe things... especially for little ones. (I couldn't tell you how many anti-biotics we get when we did not need them as the infection already ran it's course by the time we'd get the script filled!)

I also find that switching to organic cleaners in the house made a huge impact on my environment (and sinuses!).

Congrats! You are on a better path!!! ;)

A.,

I have never ran across a better lead in question to get a group talking!!

A couple of years ago I tried to follow the blood-type way of eating (which I still do try). I felt great, and lost weight.

Through new friends, I learned eating meat is a VERY bad thing. Also, dairy is the same as meat. However, my blood-type requires high protien. So I am in the process of drinking whey protien. I have lost 10 pounds in about 3 weeks.

We have switched to coconut oil for cooking and baking, because it does not turn into "bad for you" fat, as does olive oil.

We've cut way back on dairy, flour and sugar, and increased our water. Of course, we do not drink chlorinated water. We have an ro in our basement, even though alkaline may be a better choice.

The best change came about 1 year ago, when we incorporated therapuetic essential oils into our lives.

These are some of the reasons why:
I had horrible acid reflux - which is now a thing of the past. My spine is on it way to repair, my husbands joint pains are gone, and my 10 year old daughter has had some health improvements as well.

We are going to pull through this wellness revolution with flying colors.

Thank you for asking. Hope you can find something of use from my experience. I have been searching for 20 years. Talk about hippie era!
