So What Happened?

We went to Rising Stars and it was an awful experience. We got there at 3:15 and had all of the paperwork filled out beforehand. I turned it in and waited. We were the only ones in the office. My son was enjoying the games so we were ok. The called us back to the exam room after about 20 minutes and it was pretty neat that they had a TV in there so he could watch cars. All of the other exam rooms were empty. He's not really a TV watcher and after about 10 minutes he started to get restless. I had a couple of toys that I took with us so I was able to distract him with those for a little while but keeping a 23 month old in a small confined space like that is not good for anyone. After another 45 minutes the doctor finally came in. She talked to me and just me for a couple of minutes and then said ok your need to hold his hands across his chest and hold him down so I can have a look. She did not even attempt to build a rapport or talk to my son. He is a very cooperative child and lets us brush his teeth without any issue and is a trooper with doctors and even shots. I hesitated and she acted as if she was in a hurry and said this is just how we have to do it. He was scared and screaming and crying. When we finally left he said, "I don't like Dentist." We finally got out of the office at 4:30 after spending over an hour waiting for her she spent a total of five minutes with us and did not even acknowledge the fact we had been waiting forever. What good is an appointment if they are not even going to attempt to keep it. Needless to say we will not be going back there ever. I guess we'll try Dr. Vasut.

I also had a similar experience with Rising Stars.. If you can make it back to see dentist in timely manner she is great. I would say though I would never recommend this office to someone who sees their time as valuable. I was made to feel not once but twice that my time was not nearly as valuable as theirs.

We like Austin Pediatric Dentistry on 183 between Lake Creek and Anderson Mill. Kid-friendly staff, and we have had good experiences.

We go to rising star, too. Love them! They have a wii in the waiting room, show cartoons to the kids when in the chair and will even schedule appointment for multiple kids at the same time!

Private practice, he only does children. Video games in the lobby, a separate "meet and greet" room, so the child doesn't have to sit in the chair if she's not there for a cleaning/exam. (Our first visit was in this room, and a follow-up, emergency visit after a collision at school.) Open exam area, with seating for mom and dad. My three-year old was very comfortable there.
