Hi Rebecca,
We took our 4yr old to the dentist for the first time and she did great! They were great with her.
They were very patient on the phone to answer any questions or concerns that I had.
They recommended that we take a tour and meet the dentist before the appointment. Best thing ever. My daughter was able to sit in the chair, just the right size for them, the technician explained all the tools and what they were for,and we got to see some dental x-rays(really neat.)
When appointment time came around, she was excited and not scared one bit. She was calm and wants to go back!!!!! Lucky for us--no cavities(o:

Stephen Sherwood Pediatric Dentistry. Drs. Stephen Sherwood and Brad Singleton WONDERFUL! They specialize in pediatric dentistry for babies, infants, and children. The office is non threatening and kid fun without being over the top. My daughter has been going since she was 3. After the second visit she was going back without me tagging along (something the encourage).

Dr. Sherwood is my daughter's dentist (she is now almost 7). He has 4 young children of his own and has a great chair side manner. We have seen Dr. Singleton once and I was equally impressed.

You are sent email reminders, along with postcards and reminder calls regarding appts. The staff is friendly and we never have to wait long for our appointment after arrival.

Not sure how far north you are - but they are conveniently located on south bound Mopac between Far West and 2222. It's considered Central Austin, but EASY to get to!
Simply exit Far West, go throught the intersection and it is on the left.

We go to Rising Stars pediatric dentistry and they are great. FYI my son is 5 and it is the first time that I took him and he had no problems and no cavities. So dont feel pressured to take them so young. Just make sure they are brushing.

Dr. Danny Watts at 9171 N Loop 360 at ###-###-#### is fantastic. He does great work and has a great kid friendly office and staff. I was sad my college aged kids "outgrew" him.

We use Dr. Albert Tate of Total Smile Management and my kids love going. The first visit was just about introducing the kids to the tools. For instance Mr. Tickler was the polishing brush and Mrs. Sucker was the suction tool. His office is located on 183, near Seton Northwest (sorry, can't think of hte cross street).

Our kids went to Austin Children's Dentistry last year and my daughter (5YO at the time) had to have major dental work done, including root canals on her baby teeth! While we liked the people there, we didn't like the way they handled the insurance and we ended up feeling "screwed."
This year, we switched to Dr. Ann Dimick at Rising Stars and we love it!!! For my son's check-up, we only had to pay for non-fluoride toothpaste for his sensitive gums and nothing for the exam, x-rays, etc.

I don't know how far North in Austin you are, but I would be more concerned to find a really good dentist. I use Dr. Griffin Cole at 25th st & N. Lamar.

Griffin has been the best dentist I've ever had, and once I found him, everyone in my family has used him.

Grifin is very kind and gentle, and really has a great chairside manner.

I like Dr. Michelle Freeze with Rising Stars Pediatric Dentistry. They have offices in Steiner Ranch and near Lakeline Mall. She was very patient with my 2 yr old and 4 yr old. For kids under 3, they offer a free exam.

Not only is the office beautiful, clean and pleasant for children, her staff is great and Dr. Jenny is FABULOUS. Her manner with the children is terrific and I, as a parent, have never felt my concerns so sincerely addressed. She has terrific eye contact, she's articulate and patient, loving and genuine. FIVE STARS for Dr. Jenny!

Rising Stars Pediatrics - Dr. Singletary. She was AMAZING!!! AND my son has a major "phobia" when we see doctors. They are at 183N & Lakeline Blvd in the Target shopping center.
