I recently reentered the workforce and I'm having trouble finding my way. I have a job currently as a Sales Assistant for a restaurant, and although I like the job itself, I'm having trouble getting along with my boss. She is hot and cold when dealing with me. I think she's threatened by me and my relationship with the clients. I would like to branch out, but don't know how to go about it. My networking opportunities are limited. Should I cold call other establishments or Event Planners? I have been working at this job for almost a year, and have loads of related experience. Any advice would be helpful!

What can I do next?

Go for it ! Sounds like you just need a little confidence boost. I'll be glad to help out there. I have had a couple of bosses in my past who sound like yours. With our world the way it is right now, I don't think any of us can afford not to put 110% into our jobs, so if you think that there are opportunities out there for you to shine and possibly excel you should definitely peruse them. I hope you are very succesful.

Hey L.,

I was wondering have you ever considered working from home. You know how to talk to people and promote products and services. I'm sure you know many different people of all sorts. You should check into it. Visit: www.urfuturematters.com. It is something to consider or at least take a look at. Hope this may spark something for you.

Thanks,

I would recommend talking to your boss first. Just schedule a 10 minute sit down and try to communicate your concerns to her. Write down what you want to say in advance, or jot down a few notes so you don't get distracted. I had this issue with my last boss before I became a SAHM and I didn't talk to him and just up and quit one day and I wonder if I could have worked it out if I had tried. Your boss will respect you for being open and discussing it with her directly instead of hearing scuttlebutt from everyone else. It may be something as little as the way you address her. I am very particular about people calling me by my real name not a nickname. Or it may be that she is intimidated by you if you are good at what you do and you are a threat to her position. Or you may babble on about how adorable your kids are and she finds it annoying after the tenth time you tell her about something. As moms we love to brag you know. Try talking to her, but it is always good to have something up you sleeve, just incase things don't get better.

Hey L.!! Thank you for sharing your story!!! The best way I believe you should handle this situation that you may face like this in life is this. Communication with that person so there won't be any confusion. Confusion can be caused by going over your bosses head, even though you know in your heart you could do a better job. And going to someone else on the job could cause even greater confusion b/c you don't want it to get back to your boss that you feel that way about them. See L., the enemy likes to cause confusion and strife. And you want God to be able to use you girl and to reach those clients you come in contact with. So I will leave you with this verse to refer to and I know this will bless you and help your situation girl okay!!

Matthew 18:15 says, " Moreover, if thy brother shall trespass against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone; if he shall hear you, thou hast gained thy brother."

If you like, you can let me know how things went okay! ____@____.com
Take care and be blessed girl!
