If you are looking for a gym that is family friendly the YMCA is great. The location in South Arlington has 2 fabulous kickboxing instructors. I usually work in at least one kickboxing class a week, and it definitely burns off the calories. I agree with the two below: weight loss has to be a well rounded approach. I have lost 40 lbs in the last 5 months, and kickboxing class has been a staple for me. I take some type of cardio class 4-5 times per week, and this has really helped boost my metabolism. Good luck!

I am a member at Lifetime Fitness and before I got pregnant I took their Kickboxing classes twice a week. I found that I looked much leaner and felt much lighter when I took these classes. They are wonderful! They help with cardiovascular, weight loss, and confidence. I would recommend them 100%! Go for it!

T.,

Hello. Yes, 1)cardio-kickboxing will help in weight loss, however you will also need to, 2)strength train all your major muscles groups and, 3)eat correctly. It must be a perfect combination of the three for your body.

Please feel free to contact me with questions T.. Thank you.

I have been cardio kick-boxing for 9 years!!! I love it, I was really never much into working out or aerobics classes before then but this changed my world. You can burn up to 800 calories in an hour I have been told, of course you have to work up to that. And of course you need to incorporate some weight training and a good diet (low saturated fats)for optimal results. Muscles burn fat!

My husband works for 24 Hour Fitness and I am sure he can set you up with a trial memebership if you want to try out some of their cardio-kickboxing classes.

ABSOLUTELY!!! This is one of the most intense workout classes I have ever taken. It is even better than high intensity aerobics in terms of the work out. However, you will get out of it, what you put into it. In other words, if you work it at a high intensity level, you will really see results. It you participate at a ho-hum level, than maybe not.

I was really surprised at how much cardio kick boxing improved my upper body. It really helped to define my arms, shoulders, and back from all the punching motions. I would definately recommend it.
