I had my son 8 months ago via C-Section , and had no problems what-so-ever. A few months ago I noticed on the right corner of my scar it was purple, swollen, and painful. It bled and then went away, so I never went to the doctor. Now, 8 months after my surgery, I am having the same problem, and it is leaking blood and pus. It is swollen and purple like before, and I am not sure if I should see the doctor or if this is normal after the surgery and it will go away like before. Advice please!

What can I do next?

Yes, it is infected. My first was infected and bled from the site. I never had pus, just leaking blood and fluids and my OB told me it was infected. Go to the doctor ASAP to get it taken care of.

Go to the doctor and get it checked out. Pus = Infection. I had a c-section and the scar was totally healed long before 8 months.

had a c-section and i never experienced and leaking from the site. Especially considering how long ago it was would really concern me. call your ob/gyn they should have an after hour number if not go to the closest place to deal with it.

hope you feel better.

OMG go to the Doctor ASAP!

You don't want to get a sepsis infection or infection.
Obviously it is infected.

Or go to the ER. Or Urgent Care.
See your doctor right away.

This is NOT normal.
I have had 2 c-sections.

It definitely needs to be checked, could be a 'stitch' abcess, may be something minor that will be easily treated, probably need antibiotics. Could be a staple or stitch that needs to be removed beneath the skin. Could be something more serious, don't let it go.

I've had two c-sections, and its normal for some pain around the scar site for (for me) up to a year or more after the c-section. But I never got any leakage from the incision area so if I were you I would definitely get that checked out.

You should at least call your doctor, but it sounds like an ingrown hair. I had a c-section and an ingrown hair. The doctor will be able to help and he/she should rule out anything else.

I had a friend with this same situation months after her c-section. It was an infection & she needed to go back to see her doctor. Schedule yours TODAY. Good question -- it is important!

Pus = infection.
Infection = Go see Doctor.
Doctor = proper medical diagnosis and usually prescription.
Proper diagnosis & meds = peace of mind and healing.
