oaky so my 13 y.o daughter has been having a sore throat. We looked at it with a flash light and we saw two bumps. The bumps were red and they weren't that big. They are right behind the uvula. We think it is Strep throat. Could it be anything worse than strep? Even if her throat isn't hurting but the bumps are there should she go to school?

What can I do next?

Take her to the doctor. Strep left untreated can be very serious. Don't worry about how many bumps, what color, etc. Just take her to the doctor.

were they white bumps? or were they the pinkish? where in the throat were they located? Strep could be pretty serious if not treated.

Strep throat is not the only really bad bacterial infection of the throat, but the problem with Strep is that while our body builds up immunity to fight it, we can be harming other parts of our body. That's why it is necessary to get tested. The sore throat can be viral, or it can be caused by other bacteria.

I used to get really REALLY bad sore throats with white (pus) areas and even bleeding. Yet it was never from the Strep bacteria. It was from a bacterium called Moraxella catarrhalis.

Normally, though, our family just gargles with warm salt water for the first couple days, and if it goes away, great... and if it gets worse, we go to a doctor.

Yes it can be strep and is HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS! Dont let her go to school but go to the doctor instead! As a parent whose daughter got STREP twice in four months cause Parents sent there kid to school anyway- I AM TIRED HAVING TO MISS SCHOOL/WORK, AND PAYING FOR DOCTOR VISITS/MEDICATION.

GO TO THE DOCTOR'S, they have the degree not you.
