Have any of you used/using a Frontier 85 while using a Honda Pilot???? And using the middle seat? We have a '06 and it just doesn't seem to fit. I just got it today (off ebay brand new!!) and I tried putting it in the middle seat and the carseat looks to big. Like the car's seat is to narrow. The positioning block dangles over the front.
Also I CAN NOT get the latch to tighten down. I can get it to a point but when I stop kneeling in the seat to get it tight enough, it is super lose. What am I doing wrong??
I will be taking it to our firefighter station to get it installed, but that will have to be after work and my son will be traveling in the seat to daycare in the morning in it :( Help please!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I'm a single mom, so asking my husband would be counter productive lol ;) I an kneel in it (I'm a plus size gal so there is no difference in weight between me and a man) I actually just figured it out. I googled and reread everything and I have figured out all my problems.
THANKS!!!!!

Have your husband or someone kneel on the carseat, pull the strap back through the back of the carseat, put a belt through the loop on the strap, and pull to tighten. This works to tighten my son's carseat super tight.

It may not work in the middle seat. I've found these massive combo seats to be really, really challenging in our Honda Odyssey. Never did get the Graco Nautilus to install safely in ours and had to return it.

It took about an hour to figure out how to safely install the Frontier. When I called Britax for help, they said they actually recommend it only for the third row in our minivan ... WTH??? I said, "We're not the Gosselins. I don't have so many kids I must put car seats way back in the third row." Went back to it on my own and got the seat to work in the second row, where the vast majority of kids actually sit. I wish I could tell you what finally worked, but I never moved that seat again out of fear we'd never get it re-installed. Once our daughter was big enough for a booster, we got rid of the awful Frontier (which doesn't convert to a real booster anyway; still have to deal with complicated install) and bought a real booster.

I don't know about the britax frontier 85, but I've had a few britax seats, in different cars and the middle seat has always been too small for them. The fireman that inspected one of my seats, recommended putting them on either side of the middle. Also, most cars do not have the latch system
the middle seat. The latches that are on either side of the milddle seat should only be used for the right or left seats. The car manual will let you know if there is latch for the middle seat. your carseat instruction booklet will warn you against using latches that do not belong to the middle seat.
I'm too picky about our carseat installation. so my husband lets me do them! good luck.
