Yesterday I noticed a very large protruding lump-like thing on my right breast. It it over an inch long and feels/looks like a large swollen vein. I can even see it protruding through my skin. It was not there the day before, just appeared out of blue. I am a hypochondriac so naturally freaking out and thinking the worst. I had a normal mammogram about 6 months ago (i am 41 yrs old). I will call my doc on Monday, until then..... Has anyone experienced anything like that or have any idea what it may be?

What can I do next?

I have never had that but let me help you rule out the worst real quick: Cancer tumors, generally, are hard like a rock and you cant move them. Cysts are smooth (almost like rubber) and you can move them. That's what I've been told. It will all be OK. I don't think cancer is going to pop up that big and that out of nowhere in one night. It's OK.....

I had the very same thing happen and it was a cyst. Have it checked out but that's more than likely the case

I have a condition called Fibroadenomas. They are breast lumps that generally are nothing. You don't have breast implants do you?

I had a surgical breast biopsy when I was 21 for a lump...and two weeks ago my OB checked another one out that I can see coming through my skin...he told me that if it were cancer it would not show through the skin...which my other one didn't show through...the one they actually were worried about. He said it is more likely an ingrown hair or a calcuum deposit since I have breasts that tend to get lumps from no where and do not go away and sometimes get larger...I'm thinking of having it looked at again...but I hope this helps!

I found this on a site:

Breast Cancer: Symptoms

Symptoms

The American Cancer Society lists the following symptoms associated with breast cancer:
• Presence of a lump or thickening in the breast;
• Swelling, dimpling, redness, or soreness of skin;
• Change in shape or appearance of the nipple; and
• Nipple discharge.

I had a similar experience and a discharge to boot! I found out that I had fibrocystic breasts, which is a noncancerous and common condition that was diagnosed through a nonsurgical procedure called a galactogram.

Hi, I have experienced such a thing, but hypochondriac or not, I would GO see the doctor. Perhaps it is just a mammory gland swollen. I have a sister-in-law who had a lump and drs discovered it was a swollen milk duct. Her last child was about 7 or 8 years old. Stranger things have happened.
Don't panic though. I will pray for you in any event.
