Has your big boy had a great Boy Scout summer camp experience? My hubby volunteered to be our Troop's Summer Camp Coordinator for next year so we are looking at possiblities. Our Troop is wiling to travel for summer camp, we are in the Kansas City area and last year they went to Colorado, this week they are in Minnisota. I would love to have your input, we are getting an early start on research so that we can offer the boys several great places to choose from.

Thank you. Have a great week!

My husband is lead cook at Worth Ranch outside Mineral Wells Texas. It's beautiful. There is a compound with mess halls and a pool. The scouts tent camp outside. It's hot, but it's beautiful. Trees, a river, hills. There are about 600 scouts there at any one time during the summer. SO, it's a big gathering of Scouts.
My ex-husbad was an Eagle Scout and they went to Philmont every year. He really loved it.

Our Troop went to Resica Falls in Pennsylvania...my husband and son loved it!!!

The location was absolutely beautiful - there were a ton of things for the boys to do to earn their merit badges...

Things were structured and organized....they were also afforded unstructured time - all the while being supervised...

How far can they travel?? My son went to Naish and Bartle and LOVED both of them. There is also a BS Camp down by the Lake of the Ozarks in the Sunrise Beach area. Are you looking for a BS camp specifically or just a camping location in general?

I'll be watching your post for ideas. My hat's off to your husband- what an awesome thing for him to volunteer to do!! I'm always so grateful to men like your husband who give up their time to help support these kids, and it is such a big responsibility (and a relatively thankless job). What a great guy!

we've only used our local Camp Arrowhead...limited activites, but our troop enjoyed it.

We have several boys working toward Eagle & we are looking forward to some of the more challenging camps. I'm anxious to see what feedback you receive! Thanks for asking.....

Check out Michigan! We have tons of lakes, campgrounds, state parks, national forests. Not sure what kind of facility you need, but if you could find something by one of the Great Lakes, they would love it! Dunes and fresh clear water. Check out Manistee National Forest/Lakeshore - they might have the group camp area needed.

My son's Troop went to Camp Laramie Peak in Wyoming this summer. They had a great time. He has also been to Camp Alexander in Colorado.

Our boys (now Eagles) never got to go to Philmont. That one is highly recommended as well as the one in Florida where they learn to sail.
