Blowing a Nose

Any ideas on how to get my 3 year old to blow his nose. He uses anything thats around, like his sleeve, (YUCK) He used to blow it when he was younger. He doesn't get colds too often (thank God), so I think he forgets. I have to resort to using the aspirator and we all know how kids love that.

What can I do next?

Hi It is not easy but when he gets older you can teach him. Can you believe we used a vacuum to get them out.

i keep on top of the toilet tank those wipes made by "kandoo". they smell good and they are soft for her nose. and in the room i keep a pack of wipes and also on the kitchen table. so regardless of where she is, she always has a wipe to blow her nose

How about letting him carry and ol' fashion nose rag in his pocket. He'll always have it with him and it will be handy and almost as easy as using his sleeve. It'll also cut down on your costs and on the garbage that you generate.

It could be that he just doesn't like the sensation of blowing his nose, but if he has a rag available at all times he may be willing to wipe the boogies away.

welcome to my world!!!!! i am experiencing the same thing. this year my 3 year old son started attending day care. welcome germ-city. he also uses anything he can find, which one day was the chair cover (can you say wash immediately). what i did was position tissue boxes all over the house and it is working. now if i could only get him to put them in the trash basket opposed to bringing them to me. (smile)

Blow your nose in front of him. Let him hold the tissue so he can understand that he has to blow out, not sniff.
