I am looking for somewhere to take my son for his birthday. He will be turning 3, and I would like to take him somewhere fun. I am just taking him alone, and am looking for something that wouldn't be too expensive and is close by.

What can I do next?

You could take him to the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park in Scottsdale off Indian Bend. You can check it out at www.therailroadpark.com. All rides on the big train and Merry Go Round are $1. They have a small train that is free to ride. They have an ice cream shop. A great contained Play Area with Jungle Jims and other equipment. Another play area with a Stagecoach and a small building. And tons of open space for running around. There are ramadas for shade and picnicing. They also have a train car that serves food. Everything is very reasonably priced. My boys, 2 and 3, love the train park. Good luck and Happy Birthday to your son.

Freestone Park in Gilbert is a nice place. They have the recreational cener as well as aplayground, pond to feed ducks, a train that goes around the park and a few tiny tot rides.

Bounce U in Gilbert also has a Kids Day that is open to the public.

Hope this iformation is helpful.

Hi M.,

I would suggest Build A Bear. My daughter was there just after she turned 3 and loved it! The nice thing about the age is that they don't know how much more you can add to the bears so it doesn't get as costly as it would for a 6 year old. (I have another daughter who was 6 at the time we were there and wanted everything!) It only takes about 20 min. or less if they are not busy. If you are looking for something that takes longer or is more of a play area I would suggest Amazing Jakes, Makutu's Island or Chuck E Cheese. My mom took my kids to Amazing Jakes and that can get expensive compared to Chuck E Cheese(I do love to take my kids there because no matter what they can't escape). Makutu's Island is off of the I-10 and Ray Rd. This is a fun place for kids to really run around. You need to be sure to take socks for you and him. It's $7 per kid and $3 per adult. It's like a giant jungle gym with tons of slides to play on. You will be exhausted:) I hope this helps you.

If you have a huge yard and it's not raining by that time, contact an inflatable bounce house /inflatable slide company...it's worth it for several hours.

Or
If you're into the petting zoo thing..my friend just recently had her son's 2nd birthday with Carter's Mobile Petting Zoo. They bring the animals and a little gate and place it in a circle for the kids to go in and pet and feed and all that.

Or
Desert Breeze Park www.desertbreezerr.com

Good Luck!
