Hello Mamas,
ok, so my feisty 20 month old daughter has proudly learned to undress herself. and she is obsessed with it. problem is, she takes off her clothes and diaper when napping or sleeping. and i am sure you can imagine the mess if she has a bowel movement when naked. i have tried putting her in a onesie on backwards..that worked well for a few days, until she figured out where the snaps were. i have also put her in zip up pajamas, backwards, which is fine except it is very hot these days, and the whole foot thing seems a bit uncomfortable for her. i would welcome any suggestions, we are getting desperate, and pretty grossed out :) thanks

What can I do next?

Have you tried putting her diaper on backwards? It's really the diaper that is the problem here, not the clothes. Try putting it on backwards and add some tape to the tabs if you need to.

I also second the duct tape. It seems to be a phase that most children go through and it is less enticing if it does not work at all.

cut the feet off, if you're going to do the zip up foot thing backwards.

I had to duct tape our dd's a few times, just make sure none of the tape gets on her skin.

In addition to putting the diaper on backwards... I also recommend duct tape on those tabs if she's figuring out how to get them off from back there too.

Duct tape. Works wonders and keeps the diapers on my twins, who are the same age as your daughter.

buy some lightweight pajamas in the next size up to wear backwards, that way there is more room to twist the legs around and the feet will be comfy. or like the other moms said, just cut the feet off if you dont think she will try to get in through the bottoms (mine did sometimes)... plus she will be cooler without the feet

DUCT TAPE. I had to use it for a couple of months. My daughter got so used to it that she would remind me if I forgot, "mumma- tape on!" People who haven't experienced this think duct tape sounds horrible... not compared to the alternative. :)

haha - that is great - she has a sense of accomplishment too. The only thing to do is to put on some pants with a rope belt and tie a knot at the middle so she cannot undo it and explain to her that she needs to keep her clothes on.

I have heard of the duct tape thing too when little ones do this. If she is able to get her whole diaper off maybe it is uncomfortable for her. Do you think she is ready to start potty training? Many Moms start girls on 2nd birthday, we did and it was accomplished in about 2-3 wks. Good luck

Hi, I had a friend whose daughter did the exact same thing and they would put her in a one piece bathing suit for her nap. If the straps are easy to pull off try tying the staps together in the back. It worked for them.

Hi AC,

Your daughter is proud of her brilliance, congratulations! Hee hee!

I put my sons in overalls when they learned how to pull off their pants. Overall pants, overall shorts.

But, wow, your daughter seems to be able to get out of anything! Good luck! I like the below suggestion to use duct tape!

You have a little Houdini on your hands! LOL. She's funny.

The duct tape suggestions are cracking me up...hey, but if it works... You'll surely need to take pics of that to show her when she's older!

Wish I could have offered a suggestion, but she's already outsmarted the backwards clothes idea I would have offered. Maybe sew the onesie together at the bottom? If it's stretchy enough you'll be able to get it on her through the top part.

Was having the same issue with my 2.5 year old son. He still sleeps in the toddler-sized sleepsacks, He would get out of that, then his pajama bottoms, then take off the diaper. I finally started putting the sleepsack (summer-weight) on backwards and that has solved the problem. Good luck!

My son did this as well! I would put duct tape over the diaper straps and that worked. These little stinkers are sooooo smart!!!! Good luck! :)
