Go to www.Komen.org and find your local affiliate to call. They will be able to direct you to assistance.

I would start by contacting the Dept. of Human Services - they should have a social worker who can point you in the right direction. This is probably the person who can help you find a local charity to help with the rent.

Also the utilities usually have a direct program themselves so you can also just call the information number on the utility bill.

I would also call the American Cancer Society; I am sure they have lots of referals they can give you! You might also try the Susan Komen Foundation. These local chapters can probably help you and her in the right direction. I know the leukemia and lymphoma society does this (they even help families directly with money, etc.)!

Try this organization. A friend of mine is a medical oncologist and has done some work with them. Their website bears looking in to for your friend, especially if she is low to moderate income. Good luck and God bless...I walked in The 3 Day, 60 mile walk this summer to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer. Let me know if this helps... M. in McKinney

I am so sorry to hear of your friends challenges. I would suggest that she start first with contacting the Susan G. Komen Foundation. They themselves probably do not have resources but they are a wealth of knowledge and can probably refer her somewhere that provides assistance. I hope this helps!

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. You might try to contact Allen Community Outreach - depending on where she lives, they may be able to help. Or they may be able to direct you to the right place.
