Hello! I am a second grade teacher and I teach art once/week. Any recommendations on books or websites for fun, easy art projects for 2nd graders? Or just your own ideas. Thanks!

What can I do next?

We did dot pictures using the various shades of bingo markers. Using Sunday in the park as a lesson and example. We have done monet lessons and had them finger paint "starry night". I went to an art museum and got inspiration built the lesson and did loose interpretaions. We also did a progressive paper mache as time is limited and things have to dry and resources are limited. Ask parents to send in a balloon, newspapers. Make the mache paste and have the kids cut the paper into strips, then help them blow up the balloons and tie them(pto donated an air tank for this thank goodness), cover the balloons with strips of mache soaked paper let all dry for a week(check for weak spots so no one is disappointed). Once dry pop the balloon and have each child decorate theirs however they wish...paint, colored tissue, colored paper. These can also be made into pinatas if your ambitious for a year end party. Have fun

familyfun.go.com has great art projects. I've used them over the years.

Or how about this: Instead of using real eggs painted for Easter, we substituted foam eggs and painted them with glittery paint. Then we glued on sequins and beads and other shiny stuff to create somewhat realistic looking faberge style eggs. We modeled a stand out of pipe cleaners; since the eggs are covered in bling, it would seem that metallic pipe cleaners would work great.

Here's an idea for a pipe cleaner stand:

There is an art teacher from our school district who posts a LOT of stuff on pinterest.

If you're not on pinterest, I'm not sure you can see it (I have no idea, I never tried to look before I was on it), but she has so many wonderful ideas!
