Anyone with Britax Experience?

Has anyone had experience with Britax carseats over a number of years? I have had a Britax Boulevard CS for about 10 months. My sister has had one for about 3 years. We put them next to each other weekend and the difference was amazing. The base of ours (installed by the fire department) hangs off the front of the seat, and while it is in the upright position, he seems a bit leaned back, which doesn't bother me. My niece's seemed more upright and the base didn't hang off the seat at all, and was right up against the back of the seat. Her's seemed to allow more leg room behind the passenger seat.

My question is has anyone come across this before? Have we just not jammed it up against the seat enough, and forced it more upright? I do plan on asking the fire department when we move it behind the passenger seat in a few months, but I would like to know now if he is going to be getting more leg room, or if I will be hugging the dashboard.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone. The seat isn't in the recline position. That is the first thing I checked. I also checked Britax's website and while it doesn't have any pictures of the seat installed forward facing, it does talk about the 20-80% rule, which the seat seems to adhere by. There are two "planes" to the back of the seat, and I think this is just set with the upper plane against the seat, rather than the lower that would make it more upright. I may try to reinstall it just to see if the base will still be flat when that day comes. Thank you for all making me feel better about the safety of the seat and the possibility of more leg room for him.

The handle to adjust the angle of the seat is in the middle under the front of the seat. I'd take it back to the fire station, adjust it and have them re-install it. We've been using a Marathon for about 6 years and love them.

I agree with the others it seems like yours is in the recline position and that would make it hang over the edge of the seat.

It sounds like your is set for the rear facing position! When the seat is rear facing it is set to lean back - forward facing it's set more upright. I'd check it even though the fire department put it in - or take it back and explain your concerns because that just doesn't make sense.

I have a marathon. Ours reclines, and is reclined so mine also hangs off of the seat a bit. You may want to check and see if yours is in the reclined position and if it is move it up to standard before you install it behind your seat.

I use a Britax carseat with my son. It sounds like your seat was installed incorrectly. Do you have the manual for it? If not I would go on their website and see if you can find it there. It will not only show you pictures of how it should look when installed in both the rear and forward facing positions but will tell you how as well. At the very least I would go by the police or fire department to have them check it.

Good luck!

Hello- We used Britax car seats with both of our children. We did find that we needed to roll a towel and place it under the back side (against the back of the seat) to get it to fit in our cars correctly.

They are fabulous carseats, don't give up. H.
