Hi
Here are a few recipies. They are edible, but Im pretty sure they wouldnt taste that good.

PLAYDOH
1 c. flour
1 c. boiling water
2 tbsp. cream of tartar
1/2 c. salt
1 tbsp. oil
Food coloring

Mix and knead together. This playdoh is not sticky and does not dry out.

Kool-Aid Play Doh
This is my favorite play doh recipe because it is easy to make, smells good and it won't harm your child if they taste it.

2 1/2 cups of flour
1/2 cup salt
2 packages dry unsweetened Kool-Aid
2 cups boiling water
3 tablespoons oil

Mix the dry ingredients together in a bowl. Mix the liquids together and pour them over the dry ingredients. Stir the mixture until it forms a ball (this may take a while - keep stirring). As the mixture cools, it will become less sticky. After the mixture has cooled, take it out of the bowl and knead it until it is smooth.

Peanut Butter Play Dough
3/4 Cup Peanut butter
3/4 C wheat germ
1/4 C honey
1/4 C Powder milk
nuts, raisins, sunflower seeds and coconut

Mix the top four ingredients together in a bowl and use the nuts, raisins,
seeds and coconut to decorate. Enjoy

This is totally edible. When children get done playing with it, put into a baggy for next time.

Good luck

here is a non cook one I make at my preschool all the time.

3 cups flour
1 cup salt
1/3 cup oil
colored water as needed

Mix the first 3 ingredients then add colored water a little at a time until desired consistancy. Store in air tight container or bag. You can add extracts, spices, coffee grounds or koolaid powder for scents. This won't hurt if eaten, but doesn't taste that great. Glitter can aslo be added for extra pizazz but then it is non edible. The peanut butter playdough listed by another poster is great too.

If you want another sensory idea that is fun but messy...fill a shallow tray or baking dish with equal parts cornstarch and water. Do this outside and cover her with a smock. The mixture alternates between liquid and solid.

I know this is none of my business, but, why would you want your child to eat play doh? I want my kids to keep their toys OUT of their mouth. The last thing I want to do is have them play w/ something that actually tastes good. Plus, play doh is cheap, and peanut butter and honey are not. Plus, does it stain? Because peanut butter does. and honey is sticky. Has anyone them selves actually tried this stuff? I think it sounds fantastic to eat. Syrup and peanut butter is also yummy-but, I wont let my kids play w/ it.

There is one recipe I just saw on the show, Jon & Kate plus 8, last night. You mix equal parts of peanut butter, milk, and honey. If you would like the playdough a little harder you can add a little flour. Hope this helps!

There is a recipe for playdough that includes flour, water and salt. I'm not sure what the combination is, but I used to eat it all the time.

Hi J.-

We use the kool-aid one that S.G. uses. It's easy to make, has a great consistancy, and is edible.

Enjoy!
