I am a stay at home Mom. My twin boys just turned 4 in July. They are not going to preschool. But would like to get some recommenations on a structured activity.
I was thinking Karate, My Gym, Art & Crafts, etc... Anything that will help with Kindergarten readiness. I do plan on taking them to the Libary for story time each week. But would like to do more. Let me know your experiences......
I live in Reno and do not want to travel into Sparks.
Thanks so much for your help.

What can I do next?

Hi there! There are LOTS of things for kids to do in Reno. The Little Gym (new location by Costco) has wonderful classes. My son LOVES them. The teachers are great, classes are fun, and the facility is neat and clean. There are pools around town with lessons (county pools, and private lessons). We went to Silver Bear Swim School (Double R area) and again, loved the classes and teachers. In the Plumgate Center (Plumb and Arlington) there is a pottery painting place (close to a Starbucks for you!). There were a fair amount of summer camps, etc. but I think they are coming to an end, as school is almost back in session. You may also want to check your local YMCA for programs for kids...That's all I can think of for now, but if I come up with more, I'll post again.

Have a great time!

My Gym is awesome! My kids (5 and 3 1/2) have gone there for over a year. The staff is great and there are free plays that you can take the kids too a couple times a week on top of the class. They also do holiday activities and parties for the kids that are free to members. They had camps this summer that my daughter loved. I highly recommend them. Also, the first trial class is free to see if your boys like it. My son goes to the Friday morning class and my daughter goes between the Monday and Tuesday nights depending on our schedule. Make ups are really easy to schedule which is not the case at all places. You can pull up a class schedule online or just pick one up.

I am sorry that you don't want to travel the 3 miles into Sparks from Reno. I know there are gymnastics classes that take kids as early as 18 mos. old, but I believe it is in Sparks. It is at Flips. I don't know if Reno has a gymnastics class or not. There is also the PLayful Potter in Sparks, and that is fun for the kids to do. It can get expensive, but for a place to paint and spend some time with mom it is great. There is bowling at the Coconut bowl, which I prefer over some of the bowling alleys in Reno. It is cleaner and they also have that "High Ballocity" place that the kids can run and play in for hours. I would suggest some places in Reno, only I don't know that Reno has many kid friendly places like this. If you find any maybe you can post it here on the "so what happened?"

Hi C.,

I operate a preschool out of my home. It is centered around kindergarten readiness. My students come to me twice a week for 2 or 3 hours (parent's choice). My program is focused on getting the children used to a structured environment, and providing them with a very positive attitude toward school. If you look under local businesses you will see my post for S.'s Preschool. There you will also find responses and feedback left by some of my current parents. I would love to give you more information. I taught in the school district for 8 years, and am still licensed with the State of Nevada. I am very affordable. Please contact me and I can give you much more information. ____@____.com

Good luck in your search, and I hope to hear from you soon.
