I don't know which words I should use for bowel movements and urine with my four year old daughter. Any suggestions? We were thinking peepee and poopoos or poopy. Example: Nieve (my daughter), do you need to do a pee pee or have a poopoos?

What can I do next?

I do not understand this babying of body functions. With both of my kids we called it like it was: pee and poop.

BM and urinate. Build her vocabulary. McDonalds is a 3 syllable word. All kids can say that.

Pee pee and poop are very low class. Give her a better start than that.

Pee and poop are fine.
Be sure to use regular biological words for their bodies, too. It's important that they know what to call their body parts.

Pee and poop are common, easy to say and everyone will know what she's talking about if she feels a need to discuss them.
Peepee to most people is what you pee with.

We say pee and poop. I think saying urine and bowel movements is too formal.

I vote pee-pee and poop, AND no. 1 and no. 2. Teach her to say no. 1 and no. 2 outside of your home. Think of the scenario of her saying loudly in a restaurant "Mommy, I need to go poop!!!" No. 2 would be better for the people eating...

Poop and pee; use the toilet; whatever sounds natural without making the words sound babyish. We never used peepee or poopy. Just like we never used "milky" or "passy" for milk bottle or pacifier. We made a conscious choice not to baby-fy words when our first daughter was born and it really boosted her vocabulary. Even with toileting words.

Peepee and poopoo? I think that's probably what I used at that age. Then it changes to pee and poop. Or just "use the bathroom."

Usually I believe in using the real terms for things, but in this case I don't think you need to use "urine" and "feces." Yuck. ;)

I mostly use pee-pee and poo-poo, sometimes #1 & #2.

My mom always made me say tinkle for urinate. She felt that the word "pee" was vulgar. At the CDC I worked for they used the phrase, "BM" for a bowel movement.

I am vulgar and just use "pee" or "tinkle" and "poop" or "potty." ;)

We use pee and poop or poopoo with our 2 year old. Frankly, I don't know how you made it 4 years without having names for bodily functions! I use the correct terminology for anatomy, but pee and poo are just easier.

For my 2yo, we use "do a boo" and "urinate". The boo thing just happened when my husband said something funny while he was an infant.

I actually grew up saying, "have a bowel movement (BM)" and "urinate". That is pretty regular language around here, even with the kiddos.

My son heard me say "pee" one day and repeated it (asking me about it). I apologized to him and told him that it was an ugly word to say and that I did not want any of us to use it. I just think that it sounds so crass coming out of a little kid's mouth. I usually say that I need to go potty. If he inquires further, I get more specific.
