my son did this too - two words: Masking Tape.
I taped his diaper so he couldn't undo it and taped his PJs so he couldn't unzip them.
We have plenty of naked time too - but when it is bedtime, I didn't want to worry about him peeing all over his bed.

My 18 month old did this once or twice in his crib after waking up from a nap- I mostly have him and his twin sister dressed in onesies with knit pants which seems to take care of it! (The only time he's done this is when he was wearing a regular shirt). The onesies seem to do the trick!

When my daughter did this at that age, (usually when she was in bed) I put a onesie on her. She couldn't work the buttons yet and the problem was solved. Plus, it's winter so it will keep her warmer too. It's not the worst thing is she's running around naked (she probably loves your reaction too) as long as all the blinds are closed - esp at night. Good luck.

I started puting my son in onesies at 2yrs old because he wants to be naked and pull his pee-pee out of his diaper constantly. I don't think it has anything to do with potty training, sometimes they just like to be naked. I do use it as a way to encourage going on the potty though. I tell him if he wants to be naked he cant pee on the floor and if he does, he has to put his diaper back on. I remind him every few minutes of the rule, and tell him to tell me if he needs to potty. Sometimes it works, he wants to stay naked so bad that he will use the potty more often. But when he pees on the floor, he gets dressed again. I have even used duct tape to keep his clothes on. :)

My son loved to run around naked - and we didn't make a big deal out of it. If you make a big deal out of it, she knows that she gets attention for it and will continue the behavior. For us it wasn't that big of a deal and he never peed on the floor, either.

My 20 month old is the same way. I've stopped fighting her on the clothes because all it does is frustrate both of us. We have the diaper issue too and I just always tell her that she has to take it off in the bathroom. We'll go in the bathroom and she'll sit on the potty. Usually she'll let me put it back on and will leave it alone for a while after the potty time. We aren't trying to potty train her, I just didn't want her walking around naked!!! Good luck.

I agree with R.M. Let them be naked if they want to be naked, but once they pee on the floor, the diaper and clothes have to go back on. Be consistent. :)

i wouldnt make a big deal out of it unless she does pee on the floor. My little bro only ever wanted to be naked as a kid, and as long as he had clothes on when he left the house or people were coming over, my mom let him be naked and he grew out of it.

I would agree with most the mothers here... let him go naked.. not harm no fowl. My daughter usually only wears panties (she's three though) and never seems to get cold. Keep a little potty in the room where she is in just in case she wants to go in there... if not just make sure she knows you are not happy with "bad pee pee on the floor"... good luck!

Hi M.. My 2 yr old takes his clothes off too. I used to get frustrated, but now if we have no where to go and we are just hanging out around the house, I just let him do it. I bought a little potty chair and put down a plastic mat in the middle of our living room. Sounds gross, but he actually goes on it. I had the ring for the toliet, but he needed help climbing up, so he couldn't do it on his own. With the potty chair right there, it's easy for him. Also, I don't ask him a million times if he has to go to the bathroom, but I do note if he hasn't gone in awhile and he drank a huge cup of milk... I'll just sit him down on it, not make a big deal. Also, I used to worry that he was cold, but he seems so happy, I let that one go too. He seems to do best going to the bathroom if he is naked, but I did start putting a thicker pair of underwear on him so accidents aren't so bad. Lastly, I decided not to sweat the small stuff and I don't get so mad about accidents. I plan on getting the carpet cleaned one of these days..... :-) Good Luck.

When my nephew was this age, he did the same thing and my sister just put him in overalls. He had a really hard time getting them off. Also, I've heard people buy one piece pjs and put them on backwards so that the zipper or snaps are in the back. Good luck!

M.,

I do not think my kids ever kept their cloths on at this age! LOL Its not a fight worth attending. The Doc gave you good advice, she will let you know when she is ready.
