Adult Baptism

A card is fine. Adults don't need gifts for baptism or sacraments. She'll be really happy about her child getting a gift, though!

I think just a nice card will suffice and of course a gift for the baby as you have already done. I think your support and happiness for your sister is gift enough. BTW, my husband got baptized as an adult and he didn't get nor did he expect presents.

Yes, I think a gift is definitely appropriate here. Baptism is a wonderful occasion, especially for adults. I think it should definitely be celebrated. Give her a bible imprinted with her name on it (there's a store here that does it for free with the purchase of a bible), or a cross necklace or ring, or something like that. If she's catholic (which I suspect she is if her baby is getting baptized), you could get her a nice rosary.

You are not expected to get one and other posters say that adults don't expect a gift -- but it sure would be thoughtful of you! A lot of the focus will be on the baby at this time but it would be lovely of you to let your SIL know that you are recognizing her as well. I'm sure she would be glad of it.

A simple cross neckace would be fine, as would an adult Bible study book or one of those "through the year with the Bible" books that take readers through a Bible passage for each day of the year. Be sure to write a nice inscription in the book. If you get her a necklace, consider having it engraved on the back with the date of her baptism.

Any Christian bookstore would have many gift items and books, and any jewelry store would sell crosses (and so do all the department stores from KMart to Target to Macy's or Bloomingdale's!).

I have never heard of an adult expecting anything for receiving sacraments. The reason is they tend to be driven by another sacrament. Like you must have all your sacraments before you can get married or probably in this case before your child can be baptized you must be baptized. So the event that is driving the sacrament tends to be what the person wants the focus to be on.

see if you can find a nice frame that she can have a pic of her and her daughter in it just for the special occasion. something that has a nice scripture on it.

i think a card is nice. maybe she isnt expecting any gifts but to think of her and congratulate her on her sacrament would be a nice gesture.
