Adderall - Users

S., I seen you were asking about adderall, well from having experienceing with my daughter being on it,I think that she does very well with this one better then all the others that she has been on. She has been on these meds since she was six years of age, she is now fourteen. When she first when on this med she had headaches, and somachachs but she was more calmer and less active, with the other ones she had more serious side effects, but u need to try it for yourself and see how it goes, try them for about a year that is usually how long it actually gets into the system.

My daughter has been taking adderall xr for 2 years now. It has made all the difference in her academics. She can focus and attend and learn... all the things we prayed for. Only side effect is loss of appetite. She is small and thin to begin with and by the spring, after being on the meds for 10 months, she is very skinny. We take her off in June and fatten her up all summer.

adderall did not work for my daughter at all. She was dx'd at 4 with speech delays & adhd etc and then was re 'dxd at 91/2 with aspergerss with hyperactivity... within a week it made her very withdrawn , antisocial and downright nasty.... changed her personality drastically. However , she could read a book while 5 of her friends played ariound her and she could do her flash cards better. She also was happy to sit and do nothing at the beach and the waterpark... not like her at all... she seemed unhappy and shes always a sweet a happy kid...
That being said, focalin 2.5 mg and 5 mg did the same thing.. 2.5 took a week longer to make her that way..

The drs have assured me that there are plenty of meds to explore but we are done... they only have a 50/50 shot of working when it cobncerns aspergers and meds have always scared me...
i finally tried it just to be sure i wasnt holding my daughter back if there were something that could help her.

Hello,my name is D.,and I'm very new to this site.I read your request,and I have some valuable info for you.My 7 year old son is actually taking Adderall,he was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 3 years old and we ahve tried several different meds and none seemed to work...........except Adderall.He just started seeing a new Neurologist and she told us that it can cause high blood pressure,and they will monitor his blood pressure every month when he goes to see her.He has been on Adderall for about 8 months now (prescribed to him by another neurologist,who is retired now)and he never had any side affects.There are some meds that would totally knock him out,others would sedate him to the point he looked like a zombie.I am very happy with the results and I would recomend it to any parent looking for an ADHD medication.All children are different,and they respond differently to different meds,but I would give it a try.For my son,the result came slowly,the doctor had to play a bit with the dose to get it right for him.He now takes 15mg in the morning,and the nurse in school gives him another 10mg after lunch.It is amazing what the right medication will do for a child with ADHD.After he was diagnosed with it at 3,I tried Ritallin,and Chlonodine,and they didnt seem to work right for him.I tried for a total of 3 months,and decided that I would rather not give him anything for a while.I tried again when his teachers at school complained about his behavior and also told me that his school work was suffering due him not staying still.I figured I owed it to him to try once again.I am so glad I did,its like night and day.I hope my story helps you in some way,or at the very least,lets you know you are not alone.I'm here if you have any questions or if you just want to talk:)
