9 Yr Old Daughter Hair Loss

My nine year old had a bald spot the size of a silver dollar and one the size of a dime. The dermatologist told us to watch it and if it got any larger she could treat it w/injections. It did get worse so she had the treatment and the hair grew back wonderfully. It's been about 6-8 months and she now has about 8 new ones, the biggest being the size of a silver dollar to the smallest pea sized one. I'm terrified!!! I will take her back to the dermatologist.

She also has had extremely dry, flaky and itchy scalp since we've moved to Georgia from up north. Anyone with comments on alopecia or hair loss related to scalp disorders?

What can I do next?

There is usually a nutritional problem when this happens. Please get her on good vitamins, take sugar from her diet and make sure she gets vegetables and balanced meals with not too many sandwiches, etc. My daughter has a good vitamin that has helped her children a great deal from Herbalife....during the day she makes them a shake from the same company and adds stuff to it to seem like a treat. There has really been a difference in their behavior and everything. Her distributor is Joel @ ###-###-####, but there are many in the phonebook.
Good Luck!

I had a friend who's daughter was losing hair and it turned out to be an iron deficiency, I think. This was more like all over hair loss so I don't know if it's the same thing.

That is awwfull and i am so sorry ,i wish i could help ,but maybe it is not an issue for the dermatologist ,maybe it is an issue for your family doctor so they can run blood work and test just to make sure she is doing fine .I hope it gets better and i hope that i have helped in some way

Maybe it has something to do with the change in environment. I know when I went to visit family in WI, I kept cold like symptoms and itchy dry skin. Just a thought.

Hi D., I have two boys and my first concern is about their health and safety. I have found a company called Melaleuca that manufactures all natural products. . I am excited by the products this company is selling they are all natural. The cleaning products, laundry care, health and beauty items you are currently using all have within them toxins and carcinogens which are known as a direct cause of some cancers. I know that you are very concerned about the health of your family, and I have found that we have an alternative to buying toxic household products from the grocery store. These products are AMAZING! I wanted to share with you what I am doing to see if you might be interested in being a customer of Melaleuca. Visit my website www.kristies.fourpointmoms.com for more information.

Hello,
My daughter had lost her hair at the age of 9. I was scared to death I didn't know what happened. She went bald all the way around, however I took her to see a dermatologist and she prescribed some liquid for her. I would rub it on the bald areas 3 x a day and before you know it her hair grew back and then some. Now she is 13 and has a head full of beautiful hair. I know that alpecia runs in my family, so i'm not sure if that's what she had.
Hope that helps, sorry but I don't remember the name of the liquid.

My hair does the same thing and Im 22 but i dont have any bald spots, probably b/c my hair is so thick. By I shed like a cat my hair is EVERYWHERE it comes out just by running my hands through my hair. Ive noticed that when i change shampoo's it does this. Since my hair is pretty long and my hair never does this when its short Ive decided to cut mine. the south does hell on hair..when i was in sanfransico my hair turned the brightest of blonde and looked SOOO healthy with me doing nothing, when we came home it started turning darker and more dried out.
