my nine year old son has started to have body odor and i need some ideas of deodorant and body wash for him. he was informed tonight that a shower will be needed everynight....told him how offensive body odor can be and don't want him to ever be known by his "smell". but being so young i don't want to harm his skin.....he has no allergies!!!!
There are some deodorants that you can find that work for a few days, so if they forget to put it on, it still works. Certain Dri is what my daughter used, until she got in the habit of using it daily. This brand, they suggest to put on at night, before bed, and it keeps working, even through a shower. Good luck!!
Ohhhh it's happening! Aliens clone our wonderful children and switch them out until they are in their 20's. You can tell when the cloning has started because they get mouthy and the boys start smelling. They will be switching him out between the ages 14 to 16 and you won't see your good child again until he is in his 20's. Where they take our good children and what they do to them is secret. When I asked my kids where they were they just rolled their eyes. Beware....
Honestly though, have him shower each morning instead of night. That way you will have the pleasent smell most of the day instead of all night when he is sleeping.

My daughter uses that, which I get for her.
My daughter was in 3rd grade. Will be in 4th Grade in the fall. She is 8. Her Teacher, spoke to the entire class, about their changing biology... and that some are getting 'smells'... so they need to take care of their hygiene.
Others have given good suggestions. My 13 year old has had to switch to stronger stuff, and uses Mitchum Sport. He tried using Axe deodorant for awhile, but it didn't work AT ALL. The bodywash and sprays are fine, but the deodorant is worthless.
Suave for Men is inexpensive and has some good non-feminine smells. Use the cheap stuff while you can!!!
In middle school and high school, boys want the Axe brand or other things that they other guys in the locker room have and that stuff is not cheap!
my boys take showers EVERY NIGHT...PERIOD..
My oldest has sensitive skin, so we use the Johnson & Johnson's on him still or Aveno....
My 11 year old is starting to wear deodorant as well. If at 9 he has BO already - then you need to start this process with him...
Also - get him to start drinking more water...watch his diet...what he eat is excreted through our system....if it's smelling REALLY bitter - check his iron levels too.
I would try the more natural option like Toms first. The less his body is exposed to aluminum the better. If it does not work then look at the ingredients of the deos out there. Each has differing levels of aluminum. Try to start with the lowest.
I would also have him wash with gentle soap like Dove sensitive if he will not touch his eyes. That stuff stings. If he would touch his eyes try Burts Bees buttermilk baby bar.
My son (now 8) has been using Tom's of Maine for a few years.
He started when he was getting BO which was eliminated by eliminating non-organic milk and buying mostly hormone free meats.
But he still *likes* to use it. :)
He also likes Axe Body Wash in the shower. If you use bar soap, try Dial or Lever 2000.
