3 Year Old Won't Take Vitamins

I have had much trouble getting my 3yo son to take a vitamin each day. I've tried many cute, fun types, and I give him a chance to pick from a few, and he'll pick one out, but then spits it out. I've only tried the hard ones, not the gummy kinds. We did Tri-Vi-Sol when he was an infant, and later Poly-Vi-Sol, but it stained his teeth gray from the iron, I think. Any suggestions, mamas?

Thanks!

Have you tried a liquid or powdered vitamin? I use Shaklee vitamins and they have an infant/toddler vitamin that is powdered and can be mixed into drinks or food.
My family has been using Shaklee products for over 35 years and I really trust the products.
you can go to www.shaklee.net/rkklemm and enter infant and toddler mix in the search window at the top and it will take you right to it.

Hi!
When my son was 18 months he did not like vitamins. But now he asks for them , mommy can i have "manyan"-his version of vitamin. I give him gummy vites. I very rarely give him candy, when i told him it was candy he took it. Then when he saw me and my husband talk about that bottle as vitamin he came up with this word and now every morning asks for it.

Kimberli:
It is hard to find out what vitamins are good, complete, necessary, etc. I truly believe that we all don't eat a full and complete balanced diet and since our children are constantly growing and all have different likes, I used a powdered form that does not have any sugar and can be put in water, juice, yogurt, fruit smoothies, etc. It is so portable and you are getting all the necessary vitamins that your growing child needs.

I am a health and wellness consultant and having had 3 children and knowing what I know about vitamins (many have sugar, aren't made to absorb correctly in the body, etc.), I have learned a lot. These packets can be delivered to you. If you would like some information about them, I would be very happy to share it with you. PLUS, we guarantee your satisfaction so no more money or vitamins down the drain! Let me know how I can help you and your child be happy and healthy! It doesn't have to be that difficult. Been there, done that!

It's hard finding a vitamin that they like and continue to like and they are so darn expensive. I have a few opened vitamin containers that are full because they didn't like them. I babysat a family that gave their kids liquid vitamins. I googled liquid vitamin and found one with good reviews. Maybe give these a try. Good luck!

My son, now 5, has been taking his "energy juice" just about every morning since he was 2. The product, AKA energy juice, is acutually a black cherry/aloe/ sea vegetable supplement called Body Balance. I was referred to the product by a friend, and it is a "vitamin" the whole family can take. See www.gopillfree.com for more info and to get a free bottle to try. I may have a small sample bottle that my girlfriend gave me that you could try and see if he'll like it. My son reminds me to take MY "energy juice" with him everyday. That way we are both healthy! E-mail me if you want more info!

Honestly I wouldn't worry too much about it. Most people who eat a reasonable diet do not need vitamins- the majority of it just gets eliminated in the urine anyway. We had considered giving our kids a couple of different vitamins but after looking at the label discovered they have little nutritional value anyway (the Gummi ones we saw only had two different nutrients).

My 3 yr. old is into Pooh Bear and so I bought her the gummy Pooh Bear vitamins. I also allow her to choose 1 of 2 and I eat one with her. She likes the fact that I'm eating one too and that I let her pick 1st. This is the only way I've been able to get her to eat a multivitamin.

I wish you luck!

We use the "bear vitamins" at TRadjer joes. My kids love them. No artificial colors etc. NOT the gummies the regular hard ones. Good luck

My 3 year old sometimes spits his vitamin out too. I resorted to crushing the vitamin up and mixing it with applesauce or yogurt (he loves both) and he eats it right down without even knowing it's in there.
