My Stats: 2nd pregnancy (21 weeks along); almost four year old toddler; just moved from Dallas, and so much more active here with museums and other sight seeing.

My Questions: Is it normal to be extremely sore (especially in the crotch area) and completely exhausted only half way through the second pregnancy? Is is going to get worse?

So What Happened?

I called the Dr. office on Thursday morning because the pain was so bad on Wednesday that I was crying. For that and another reason they send me to the hospital to Triage. After talking to the Dr. about the pain he diagnosed it as Round Ligament Pain. Whew! After looking up PSD I was horrified. I really didn't want it to be that. Knowing that it's RLP I have just pushed through it the last couple of days and, I take it easy when I need to.

Thank you everyone for your responses!

I would say yes to both. That just means that you'll have to rest more, and not do so much. Remember, the first time around you didn't have a 4 year old to run after.

The soreness could be Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction:

I had this with both pregnancies but much worse (and earlier) with the second. It's more of a sharp pain in the pubic bone when rolling over in bed, standing and walking. Chiropractic treatment can help.

BTW, I used to live in Costa Rica and loved it. Lucky you!!

Each pregnancy is different.

Yoga, swimming and baths were good ways to cope with discomfort for me. As for fatigue, yes, fatigue and needing naps is complete normal. It is probably an indication that you are trying to do too much.

Hi - I had that in my second pregnancy, too. I think it's normal. Good luck with your pregnancy and move!
