2 1/2 Year Old Vomiting ALL NIGHT...

My son was throwing up last night between 1 to 3 tomes an hour. I would say it's just your run off the mill stomach bug but the vomit is all mucus. There's no bile, no smell, no color. I'm wondering if he aspirated water at the pool? We are calling the doctor as soon as the office opens, but have any of your children experienced this?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

My little guy is doing better, and he did just ingest too much pool water, thankfully it wasn't aspirated like I originally thought. Thanks for your concern Mary, yes, if he had shortness of breath, or seemed to have any respiratory issues, I would have called 911. He was fine by the time we got to the doctor, and is ready to get back into the pool.

when my daughter was that same age, we had this occur as well. When we checked her body, she had also developed hives; that's how we discovered she is allergic to shellfish. Pretty lucky it wasn't too severe. Scary and not much fun, but haven't had it happen again (obviously changed her diet). Hope all is well with your little one.

My youngest once vomited every 5 minutes for 2 hours straight. (Of course, it was between 1-3 in the morning and my husband was out of town!) I called after-hours during it, and they said if she was vomiting that frequently for more than 2 hours to bring her in. Luckily, she stopped right at the two hour mark. When I brought her in the next day, it turned out that an ear infection she was being treated for was NOT clearing up, and her body was going into overdrive to rid itself of the infection. She received a strong antibiotic injection and everything cleared up in short order. One of many possibilities! Good luck, I hope you get this sorted out soon!

From what I have read & heard a sign of aspiration from water is shortness of breath. Of course if this is what is happening you should call 911 immediately. Hope your little boy is doing better now.

I have four kids. The oldest is 5. They've had their bouts with vomiting, but I can't recall EVER having them throw up that much. At most, it was every few hours or so. I would definitely call the doc ASAP. Good luck. Hopefully it's nothing and he'll be just fine after it runs its course.

Try giving a tiny bit a peppermint tea (warm)most importantly don't give him anything until his tummy calms down.My husband says as a rule between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. are the WORST hours for any and all flu symptoms. After 6 a.m. then try saltines, peppermint tea but only TINY amounts at a time. Good Luck
