My ds loves his boots! And last week he decided to run through mud puddles in them while he was with my parents. So needless to say there is mud caked in the zipper part of his boots. I can move one up and down but the other is definitely stuck. Does anyone know of a way to get the zipper going again? I've thought about water but the boots are made of leather or a leather type of material. Not really sure what to use without ruining the boots. thanks in advance!
Use a dry brush to whisk away as much of the mud as you can. Maybe even an old toothe brush to get in the cracks.
If the dry method doesn't work, you'll have no choice but to go wet. You can spray water up close or even use a medicine dropper just along the teeth, while holding a towel behind it. spray a little on and let it sit.
My last suggestion is WD-40. Again, hold a towel behind the zipper and just go along the teeth.

First clean the zipper with a stiff brush.
brush away the extra mud and get a soap bar (dry): rub it on the zipper and see if it helps..
Can you get a needle and try to break up some of the mud?
Can you take a wet toothbrush to the zipper? If not, maybe take it to a leather shop; I'm sure they've seen worse :)
Rub some candle over the zip. Hope it helps
We wash or leather tennis shoes all the time in the washer. I little water won't hurt. Give it a try.
wow ladies, i'm impressed. L. you got some great suggestions. good luck. i would only add that maybe use your vacuum or an air compressor to suck/blow out the dirt.
