I have been waiting to go back to school for phlebotomy for over a year now. The time has come to sign up for the class. Well in the last week I found out that I would be in a 2 day class in the evenings and than after like one month I need to do 120 internship hrs. The 120 hrs need to be on dayshift only and they are 40 hr weeks so I need to work 3 week of 40 hrs to get the certificate. I would be working without pay. Thats what is gonna happen the labs they would have us doing them at open at 530 am. This is my problem I don't have anyone who can come and get my kids off. I have 4 kids 2 leave for school by 7:50 am the ohter one has a bus that picks her up at 12:30 one not sure yet till closer to school starting. Than they would be with my 2 year old till I get home thinking I would be home by 3 or 4. I could probably pay someone but not very much since I won't be getting paid plus we live on my husbands check which isn't much. So I have got some who say go ahead and sign up than worry about it later. But I am a person who likes to have things in order before doing something. Cuz why pay all the money. So please let me know what you guys think please.

What can I do next?

See if the school system offers any kind of program where kids can go early or stay late - many have programs that are filled with fun activities. The school may be able to work with you.

Is family close by? Would it be possible for your mom or mother-in-law that could come and stay with you just for the few weeks?

What about another mom whose kids are the same age. Maybe you could trade off with another mom and help her out when she needs it in the future.

You know, it will work out. Pray and you will find people to help you to achieve your dream.

Good luck and God Bless,

M.

Does your husband have any paid vacation, or paid sick leave (I know not ideal!) he could use?

Can your husband arrange with his work to come in later for those 3 weeks and work later in the evening?

Is there a neighbor you trust with the kids?

How about any other families on your street who have children who go to the same school?

Can your husband take his vacation for 2 of the weeks and then maybe a family member can move in with you for a week? This is obviously a sacrifice, but it will benefit your family in the long run. I am sure that your husband would be more than willing to help out if you tell him what he can do. It would, after all, still be a vacation, he jsut wouldn't be leaving home and you could point out that he would have 4 to 8 hours of alone time to do whatever he wants. Maybe you could remind him of the projects that he wanted to do for fun, or just for him, and this would be his chance. If he doesn't have any vacation time left, then I would think that you really need to rely on family, have a teenage, neice or cousin stay with you for a week, then your mom, then hubby's mom, or something like that. Otherwise, just find a sitter and pay the piper, it will pay off in the long run. You are this close, you jsut need to bite the bullet and "git r done".

Maybe you know someone who has an older teen that would stay at your home at night and get the kids off for school.
Or just run an ad in the paper and see what responses you get...

Post a notice around local colleges. I am sure some student would love a few bucks to get the kids to school. You might be able to find a couple of students, one to do the morning and one in the afternoon, depending on schedules. Good luck.

Have you considered an au pair? Yes, they are still around. I know we seriously considered one for our three kids at one point when my husband and I had overlapping work schedules that didn't allow either of us to be home for about four hours. The great thing is, part of their pay is the opportunity for them to be here in the United States, and their room and board. Also, it would be an opportunity for your children to learn about another culture and the language.
Good luck!

Maybe you should wait til the kids are a bit older and can get off to school on their own.
