Hi moms , I hope everyone has had a good weekend , My question or request is that for a while now I had notice that the back of my arms are red and I have bumping shin only in the back of my arms more on the right arm than on the left arm , at first I thought that it was that I wasn't scrubbing enough when I showered . I always had really smooth arms but here lately I don't , and I had notice that on some of my friends they had that problem too , but not the redness . well I scrubbed even harder to see if it would go away but it didn't then I thought maybe its old age ? . Its really started to bother me , I like to wear sleeveless blouses , but now I am embarrassed to wear any thing sleeveless. I have been wanting to asked my doctors , but I have other more important medical issues ,that when I do go to see my doctor , its too much for me to discuses with my doctors . My doctor always says , let talk about two things that are more important first and then we'll make another apt. for your other issue's.... and by the time I see her on the next visit I'll have other things to talk about . well I have tried using selsome blue the dandruff shampoo, and I have tried , Lamasil for fungus . Nothing has worked ,maybe I am being too vain and maybe its normal . I really am not vain ,I just think its starting to annoying me . It doesn't itch or any thing it just is red and bumpy what can I do ? Has anyone out there had this ,and dose this have a name and can it be treated ? Please someone help me ? Summer is coming and I don't want to have to wear long sleeves here in Texas or anywhere . Thank you for reading my request ...... God Bless you and your families always .......

Thanks to everyone who gave me a response to my request , I will try all of your suggestions , until I find one that works and I will let everyone know which one worked better, and thanks also for the early happy birthday wish , I also forgot to mention , that I don't know if it could be dry skin , because I always use lotion all over my body , and I consider myself pretty clean , but thanks any way to everyone ,I really appreciate your suggestions , and I will let you know how things go... God Bless you all......

Hello,
My sister, dad, and I have all had similiar red, dry bumps on the backs of our arms. I don't know what exactly causes it but I know it is from having dry skin. I have found a GREAT lotion that has done wonders for this issue and any other dry skin or rashes. It's also great because this lotion does not contain any harmful chemicals that are found in some of the store brand cremes & lotions. You can get this lotion through a wellness company and I would be happy to share the full details if you are interested. Please feel free to contact me.

I was reading your dilemma and thought I would let you know that it is most likely a build up of Keratin, which is what our skin and nails are made of. Sometimes you can get too much and it will make bumps on your upper arms and thighs. I have used Cetaphil cream or any pure lotion or cream. That will soften the Keratin and allow the bumps to slough off or be expressed easily. I hope this helps!

My husband has this. He always has since I've known him. We don't know what causes it. It looks like little pimples of some kind. It doesn't bother him as itchiing or anything. I just always assumed he sweats there or something. He's a very clean man, obsessively so. So I know it's not hygiene. Hope you find the answer. If you do, please pass it along.

Hi O.,
I have cleared up alot of skin conditions by using mangosteen juice. I not only drink it but I also used it topically. I have been able to get rid of all sorts of skin problems, so I highly recommend you try it...and best of all it's natural. Usually skin conditions are a build up of too many toxins in the body and they manifest as eczema or pimples or rashes or bumps like you describe. Mangosteen juice is the most powerful natural anti oxidant and anti inflammatory and it gets rid of toxins in your body. All I can say is....try it, you might find that it also helps with many other maladies as well!!! Go to this site to check it out....

O.,

What you are describing sounds a lot like what my doctor called "chicken skin". I have also had little bumps on the backs of my arm and now on my forearm around my elbows. When my highschool boyfriend would rub my arms, he would assume I just had goosebumps from him touching me. I let him continue to think that!!

These bumps are usually caused by dry skin. Your constant washing and scrubbing is probably drying your skin out even more, and making the problem worse. The other reason you may notice it getting worse is that our skin naturally gets dryer as we age. So turning 50 may be a big cause :-)

What finally got rid of mine was body butter. I get mine at Target in the "dollar spot", because they almost always have some, and it works great. Body butter works much better than lotion because it goes on thicker and creamier, and it sort of creates a protective layer over the skin. This also works FABULOUSLY for my bikini area, meaning no more razor bumps!!

Good luck, and an early Happy Birthday!

Hi O.,

Okay, not to sound rude but you really need to find another doctor! Any doctor that only allows you 2 questions per visit......?! Anyway, make an appointment with a dermatologist for your skin, and find another gp for your overall needs.

Best of luck :-}
