What's Next After Old Navy 4/5T Socks?

Hello

I have always bought my son the old navy socks that say 'old navy' on the bottom with grippy stuff and fold down at the ankles. I'm so confused about what socks to buy now that he has just about outgrown the 4/5 T size. I bought him a pair of ankle sports socks in the 'boys' section but they were a little too thick and slippery and they left marks on his ankles. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you!

S.

I found slippy socks for girls at the Carter's outlet on Weber and Boughton in Bolingbrook up to age 5-6! That is the largest I have seen them, and with hardwood floors at home I really need the slippy stuff.
(My daughter is 6 yrs).

Hi S.!
I made my own "grippy" stuff on socks. You may have to play around with the size, but I am pretty sure that the ones we've had success with is Hanes. Look at the shoe size on the package. I have been known to have him "try on" socks in the store or at the very least measure them up against his foot. Socks are tough though, I agree.

Once you find a size that fits, you can buy some puffy paint and write/paint on the bottom of the socks for your own home made grippies.

Once the paint dries, it is completely washable (but doesn't wash off). You can get creative here too. You can write your son's name on the socks, "right" and "left" and other silly things or just squiggly lines or dots. Anything you want.

Hope this helps!

We went to plain white athletic socks at that point. We have had no problem with the Hanes ankle style. I'll be eager to see if someone knows of any grippy socks bigger than your 4/5.

I was lucky to find some socks up to size 12(my son is 5 1/2) at the GAP. They were the knee high that work great in this weather! I was lucky to find them because even the store Mgr had no idea they had grippers on them. I only saw them for boys but I was not looking for girls. To top it off some were on clearance! They were normal colors and the grippers said stuff like CAPTIAN, PHYS ED etc... I would look on ebay you never know!

I believe Carter's has some but I dont know what size they go up to. I believe once they get to a certian size the grippy stuff goes away. But Beth has a wonderful creative idea! You might want to check out by the Carter's Outlet store at the Outlet Mall in Aurora by I88.

I have gotten the same Old Navy socks. Check with Children's Place or Gymboree. I'm not sure what size their grippy socks go up to. Good luck!

Hello,

The socks at "The Children's Place" run big. So a 4/5 there is much bigger than a 4/5 at "Old Navy". I also bought "Old Navy" socks and ran into the same problem. I actually bought "The Children's Place" socks for my younger child but after an initial wash and dry they were way too big. I now use them for my older child and they fit perfectly. Hope this helps.

I was going to suggest the same thing as Beth! That is what I do with my daughters socks now since she refuses to wear slippers and I refuse to spend major $$$ on socks with the non slip bottoms! It is a fun craft also to do with your child and they are so proud to wear them!

Good luck and blessings to you!

I buy Hanes brand at Walmart-cheapest place. My son prefers them becuse the toe stitch line is not really thick. I think I have been buying Hanes since he was in pre-k. If you want to have non-slip bottoms, you can also buy puffy paint at a craft store and paint the bottom of the socks. That is what I did when they were 2 and 3.
