Slippers for a 10-Month-old?

Does anyone have a good recommendation for slippers for my 10-month-old? All of the magazines and books say not to put shoes on a child until they're established walkers (and even then, not until they need to go outside). My daughter is just starting to pull up to her knees, so I'm thinking it'll be a month or two until she's walking. But I'm afraid it's too cold in the house for just socks, and socks don't tend to stay on. I also don't want to spend $50 on something she's going to outgrow in 2 months.

I don't know if slippers would be a good alternative, or some other soft-bottomed shoe. If anyone has experience with a product that keeps feet warm, is as flexible as a sock, but stays put, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

To save a few $$, I bought a pair of "bugaloo" shoes, which are basically Robeez knock-offs. The problem was the elastic was so loose that in less than an hour, my daughter figured out how to take both shoes off by rubbing her feet together. So after about 2 weeks of constantly putting her shoes back on, we went to a Stride Rite outlet and bought a pair of real Robeez.

OMG, these shoes are awesome! They fit perfectly, stay on, and look super cute. I should have listened to you all from the beginning! Thanks for your help!

The robeez slippers/shoes are great! I buy them at the stride rite outlet in Pleasant Praire WI for $20. The Target brand is good also for $12. For my daughter they were a little big around the ankle, she is very tiny. I bought one pair of the Robeez slippers last winter and she lived in them.

I just used the Robez soft shoes. They are soft but still warm. You can also buy them off ebay for less than you pay in the store.

I bought fleece slippers at Target in the shoe/slipper section. They have rubber bottoms. they slip off but i solved that by buying velcro strips at the store and wrapping around the top of them. They no longer fall off. Of course, if I can get a few minutes to myself, I plan to actually sew the velcro on to make it easier. I bought the velcro at Hanover Fabrics but I know they sell it at Target also. I cut it thin in width so it doesn't feel uncomfortable for her. I looked into Robeez becaue a friend loves them and the recommends on here but I just can't afford to spend $35 for a pair of shoes outgrown in a few months. Once she is actually walking outside, I will look into them again.

Try Robeez baby shoes.

Funny how things can change in a short 12 years...when my girls were babies there were no such things as robies and i hadn't heard of Hannah Anderson. So just thought I'd let you know that my girls survived on plain old little socks and bare feet. My first daughter started trying to walk at 10 months and that was January and the second was a bit earlier and that was June.

You're bound to keep the baby in a confined area anyway so the danger is nil. You'll be great and so will the babe.

They both survived fine! Good luck and don't worry!

Definitely get the Robeez..theya re worth every penny and are much better than the generics you can buy at Target. They can be machine washed and look new again every time. They will last for a very long time and be worn daily...look online for coupons to get a discount!!

Two words - Hannah Andersen!!! They have the best moccasins or socks with grippers ever!

Robez are great for little ones who are starting to walk and can be used for slippers. Now they are pretty expensive but if you go to Wal-mart or Target (which I prefer best) they have a cheaper form of them there in the baby department for about $13. I think these are a must buy for new walkers.
