What Causes Multiple Invalid Pregnancy Tests??
I am a few days late. I have taken a couple of pregnancy tests, one Saturday afternoon which came back invalid. So I figured that I did not pee enough or that I should have waiting til the morning and don't think more of it. Then this morning took another test, and same thing invaild. The control window is showing a strong dark line but the result window is showing nothing at all. (according to the booklet that came with the test, if this is the result it is an invalid test and to retake the test)
I am taken tons of pregnancy tests before and know what I am doing, so I am not worried that I am taking the test wrong. I made sure that the pregnancy tests are not expired, ect
I'm nervous cuz I was pregnant about 4 years ago with triplets, had very faint positives on the pregnancy tests and they never developed and have to have a D&C
found out that I had a blocked tube 3 years ago and started clomid and was about to start fertility treatments and found out that I was pregnant and now have a 21 month old little boy.
WE want to have another child, but with my hubbys new job he is only home on the weekends, so we haven't been trying but we havent been using anything either. The fact that I am late is exciting and I really feel that I am pregnant, but seeing the invalid tests is making me think that I'm not or that there may be a problem.
I'm going to take another test, different brand, first thing again the morning.....
Has any one ever experienced anything like this??
So What Happened?™
According to the booklet that came with the first 2 tests, if there is a line in the control window and a blank results window than the test in invaild. It is not positive and it is not negative, it is invalid and tells you to retake the test. I am trying another test again in the morning....

If the control window has a dark line and the results has nothing, then you are probably not pregnant. The tests I take only show a line in the results window if you are pregnant. As long as the control window is showing a line, the test is valid.

Get a digital test. there is no guess work, it will either say the word pregnant or not pregnant. I found it wasn't that much more expensive and was worth the extra piece of mind, no faint lines and guessing, and there are usually 2 tests to a kit.

Well i'm not so sure the test in invalid. If the control window shows the control line and then there is nothing in the test window that just means the test was negative not invalid. An invalid test would be if there was nothing showing up in for the control.....like the whole test was completely blank after you peed on it. I'm not saying your not pregnant.....you just might not be far enough a long to get a positive but again if there is a control line and no other line that is just a negative result.

I hate to question your reading of the tests, but make sure you have thoroughly read the instructions for this particular test, they all are different. Some have a vertical line in the control window with a horizontal line in test for negative and horizontal plus vertical lines for a positive result. Others have a line in the control window and no line in the test window for negative and one line for positive. Some have only one window with one line meaning negative and two lines meaning positive. Maybe try a different brand, maybe one that gives a digital answer of yes or no/pregnant or not pregnant. It is rare to get an invalid response, especially on more than one test. But maybe it was just a whole bad batch of them. I hope you get a positive in the morning.

I only had that happen to me once with my 3rd child I peed too much on the stick so I peed in a clean disposable cup then dipped the stick in the cup for the recommended time then layed it flat it was positive.

could be you didn't pee on the stick long enough, try peeing in a clean cup and dipping it in there for a few seconds instead.

I got false negs with both of my girls and one invalid. It could be not enough urine as you said or some got into the control section. Try another brand , like the digital ones or first response. First thing in the morning is best especially if you have low hct levels. Also, make sure to hold it in the stream from the begining, the correct length of time, and not to splash into control. Then lay flat. Or pee into a small cup and dip tester into it. Then lay flat.
Still not sure see the doc for a blood test. Either way GOOD LUCK!

I just wanted to suggest to you to get a pink-die test, and not digital. Digital tests have a high rate of false positives, that can be devastating.
Here's an interesting website that talks about all this stuff at length.

I pray you're pregnant!
