Now that the weather is beautiful again (yay!), we want to get to exploring the parks around town. Can anybody recommend some nice, beautiful parks with big trees and nice scenery?
Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everybody! We checked out the Antioch park today, it was a lot of fun! Great park. I loved that they had plenty of swings for everybody! Many parks only have a couple of swings. I'll be sure to check into the other places mentioned here.

We love the botanical gardens! I do portrait sessions there on occasion, I'm sure we'll go there several times this year, too.

I like to take my daughter to Antioch Park (it is around 69th and Antioch in Merriam). We also like Shawnee Mission Park (it is near Shawnee Mission Parkway and 4-35 in Lenexa) because it has a nice lake with activities like paddle boats, fishing, and a beach for swimming. There are a lot of different play areas and walking areas there also.

I love Antioch park, because it has so many things for the kids to do. However, Loose park is the prettiest one (it has a rose garden) in the city. Just don't go there at night..

It's a bit out of the way but I am sure this time of year it would be beautiful (I've had family pictures taken here.)

It's the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. It's a huge park with hiking trails and a children's garden and lots of waterfalls and fountains. I can't wait to go myself this time of year, last time I went was in the fall and the leaves were absolutely breathtaking! Have fun!!

I agree about Antioch Park and Shawnee Mission Park. I have always loved Wyandotte County Lake Park as well. It is an older park, and I couldn't tell you much about the play equipment, but even as a little girl I loved going out and driving around the lake. You can almost imagine you're in the Ozarks with some of the views. One new thing they have there that is really cool is the Schlagle Library. It is more of a nature center than a library, and they offer some really cool activities throughout the year, and the staff is fantastic.

And much closer to you would be Ernie Miller Nature Center. It's right on K-7 just south of Santa Fe. They also offer activities through the year, and the staff there is great, too. No play equipment, but lots of trails, and many of them are paved which is great for strollers.

My favorite park is Antioch Park off 63rd & Antioch Rd. They have a couple of ponds, flower garden, play ground, walking path, & ducks. The park has recently been remodeled so it's all real nice.

Our favorite is Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead, it just opened Sunday. It is located at 135th and Switzer. It is free to get into and they have tons of animals and activities. The activities cost but it is a minimal fee and I don't mind paying after getting all the other things for free.

Loose Park is gorgeous! It has lots of big shade trees where you can stop and read a book (or have a picnic) on a lazy afternoon. Definitely a day time kind of place if you are taking kids and equipment.

Other than that I found this and it looks very interesting.
