I need to get a special gift for a high profile couple who just became parents for the first time. They undoubtedly will receive hundreds of gifts from around the world. So I need something unique. I'm sure they will receive the best of everything so I need something that will stand out. Does anyone have any great ideas? We're willing to spend about $200 max. And sorry, I can't reveal the parents!!

What can I do next?

There are SOOOOO many over the top gifts, and high end.
Many parents get inundated with these, but never use them.

Are they personal friends... or someone you just want to gift?

What I think would be pretty special is... a high quality leather bound book.... and you personalize the cover with a high quality gold embossing.... putting the baby's name, date of birth etc... and something to the effect of "Baby Jane's Journal of Wonders and the beginning of my history...." AND, pair it with a Mont Blanc pen or something equally special, for them to write with....

In this book, the Parent's would keep a "journal" of their dear baby girl... her milestones, her anything that catches their eye kind of thing, their daughter's every little wonderments that they witness her becoming and developing every day.

For me, as a brand new "Mom" or Parent... the thing I VALUED most, was my children's journals, which I STILL keep about them. Then when they become young men/women, I will gift it to them as a memento and a "forever" souvenir from me to them.

I think these kinds of gifts are "timeless" and irreplaceable, and not just another dust-collector on a shelf or another silver spoon to get lost, or another personalized onesie that will get outgrown and "forgotten" in a couple of months... you get the idea.

Good Luck,
Susan

Since you are in the area, I LOVE the Suss Design baby blanket I received. They also have many gorgeous and darling hats and sweaters.

I made a quilt for my cousin’s child. It was a large teddy bear motif with her name sew on it. They were well healed professionals and got lots of expensive gifts. His wife was so thrilled to have a personalized home made gift; she said no one else gave her anything of that nature. She hung it in the child’s room. Spending time and lovingly creating a gift for someone is ever more special to those who have all the money they’ll ever need.

Since you said they will be getting lavish gifts from all over the world, why not take that $200 and donate it in their child's name to their favorite charity? Usually a charity will send a card to the person in which the donation is made to let them know.

We are in no way a high profile couple, but had so much stuff from our first child, that a few friends got together and donated $300 to the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah in our 2nd child's name. It was a wonderful and thoughtful gift and we have framed the card they sent us.

Just a thought...
