Does anyone have a good urologist to suggest as a recommendation for a vasectomy (North Dallas/Plano/Allen/Frisco)? I've been talking to my husband about this, so I want to start with the research to assist with the procedure.
For those that have spouses/partners that have had the procedure - what what the 'recovery' like? I've heard it's minimally invasive and that most men can go back to work within 42 hours at the latest.
Thank you!

What can I do next?

###-###-####. Husband took off Friday, back to work by Monday. The shot was the worst part. Non-invasive no scapel. He was a bit sore, but nothing debilitating. Get him some DVD's and the remote and let him relax all weekend : ) Dont forget 3 bags of frozen peas!

DH just had it done 3 weeks ago.
He said the shot was the worst part and hurt. The rest was fine.

He had it done on a Thursday, took off Friday and just hid upstairs from the kids for those 2 days. He was still a little sore through Monday/Tuesday, but was fine after that. We had sex for the first time (sorry if TMI) after a full week.

As far as activity goes, he was back in the mix of things as of Saturday and didn't need to use pain meds after the first day. It's not debilitating, the just feel like they got kicked down there for a few days. The urologist came and talked to me and said to make sure that he didn't lift anything over 25lbs for a week, and to take it easy the following day. That was it. Procedure took 30 minutes.

Mu husband had one a few years ago and the recovery was not a big deal. He had his done out patient, but at a facility because he wanted to be "out of it" during the procedure. He was sore for a few days, but nothing debilitating. He had the procedure done prior to a long weekend and was back to work on the next work day. Supportive underwear makes a big difference in the "comfort" department for a few extra days. He had this done when our youngest was about 6 months old and frozen diapers made the best ice packs. Take a diaper, get it wet in the center, and put it in the freezer. When hubby needs relief you have the perfect form fitting ice pack. Good Luck

Remember to have him support the area big time. No skimping they are not lying about the need for tight tight undies and jock straps. my hubby refused to wear tight underwear and prolonged the agony of healing but almost 3 weeks. This is my best advice.

I have two male friends that have had the procedure. fast, non-invasive and a little ice pack & they were good to go. I don't think either O. missed a day of work after the day of the procedure.

It matters on how much lifting he does on when he can go back, but when they tell him to wear something supportive they MEAN IT. My husband did not follow what they said and has a VERY physical job so it took a little longer before he was free from discomfort. It was just that uncomforatable not painful for him, and like most men is a baby when it comes to pain.

It was so fast, my hubby was in and out in 20 minutes! He was a little uncomfortable for about 3 days, but not badly so.
