I am so sorry. I have not had that appen to me personally but I researched because I was thinking of doing the same thing. When the results of research came back I was shocked. Everyone that I spoke with that had it done either had gotten pregnant or new someone who had gotten pregnant. My husband and I decided that it would be better for him to get snipped after those results. My son was born onusing birth control and my daughter was a condom baby. Good luck and so sorry for the very surprise blessing.

A., Welcome to the freakishly fertile club. This happened to me after I had my daughter (had a tubal after C- section). I had a miscarriage though. What a roller coaster ride that was. So I know how you feel. Good Luck! K. J.

Well,
My mom went through it and a couple months later she found out she was having my brother. It's common for a tubal ligation or a vasectomy to "not take" or let something get past the "blockade". I would recommend talking to your doctor about how common it is that one gets preggers after such a procedure. I will say this, as a woman who would give everything she has to have another child *my husband is sterile because of lymphoma treatments*, Cherish that baby as much as you did the others. and if you ever need a sitter, just send me a holler I can never get enough of a babyfix :D

Wowee! That would be one heck of a surprise! :)

I had a tubal done 4 years ago when I delivered my second child - via c-section. My doc did mention to me that having a tubal done following the section was a more permanent approach (versus the laproscopic way) and I heard (and smelled) my tubes when they were burnt and tied. She said the most fail safe way though was for my husband to get a vasectomy too (on top of my tubal). We didn't do it ... but haven't had any surpises like yours! :)

Wishing you all the best! Take care!

The odds are supposed to be slim that it happens, but it is more likley to happen in the 5 years after getting the procedure done. I think when I looked that it said 1 in 50,000 would get pregnant (too risky for me). My last 2 children were birthcontrol babies too so I was looking for something more permanant. We decided against me getting a tubal because of some of the possible side effects, and decided my husband is going to get a vasectamy. He's going this afternoon for it.

I would only say this to you--whatever you do, you need to go see your doctor ASAP. There is a possibility(and I believe that it is VERY high) that you can have a tubal pregnancy. THis can be fatal to both yourself and the baby. Most of the time if the pregnancy is tubal, the doctors decide the best thing to do is terminate the pregnancy because as the baby gets bigger in the tubes, your tubes can burst and this can lead to killing both of you. If everything this is alright God will help you thru it all. That it what I have learned with my last 2 children. My #4 is due anytime between now and the next 3 weeks. Eventhough he was unexpected, I am so happy to be having him join our family soon.

I hope all goes well with you and the baby and please let us know what happens in the future :)

A friend of mine had a boy and a baby girl when she got pg again. After her 3rd child she had a tubal, and a year later she delivered another baby. The Dr told her they think the band used for the tubal was on the instrument too long and had sprung it. It must be like a tiny rubber band that they used.
That was close to 25 years ago, but I thought they had improved the method since then.
