Trying for a Girl!

Don't ask me! I had three boys. Then, I had a surprise pregnancy. It was a girl! I would have been fine with four boys though.

Good Luck.I'm on baby #3 myself I PRAYED for a Boy and a Girl to be in my life and now I have 1 of each now on baby 3 I hope it is another girl I'am having alot of the same symptoms as I did with my girl and the chinese calendar was right on with my girl and it says i'll have another but that it for entertainment as they claim anyway's i'll find out soon what it is.But if you want to get preggo right away find out your conception dates for a few months and mark the days on your calendar tehn startt to try.Like my ob told me when you want to get pregnant you do.

I read a book 8+ years ago. I believe it was called something like Determining the Sex of Your Child. Try googling or researching for that. It will tell you all the details that these ladies are sharing on this sight. I have 2 boys and an 8 year old daughter. This book definitely gave me good insight to the science behind the miracle. I know this is late & I haven't read all of your responses, but I know some people that did this. They both were married previously & had boys. they wanted another child (together) but really wanted a girl. Obviously, nothing is fool proof, but their doctor told them that the "female gene" sperms are the slower "swimmers". They were told to have her husband withdraw at the begining of ejaculation to "release" the males & then to complete the process within her. They ended up with a beautiful little girl. Good Luck!

There are medical procedures that can ensure a male but, if you are going the traditional route, it is pretty much up to the fastest "little swimmer". ;) You can try the "timing tricks" mentioned below but remember it is not a sure bet. Just be willing to be blisfully happy with 3 boys, just in case.

Dr. Shettles is the most scientific book and overall sound way to increae chances of one sex or the other. It DOES have to do with timing of intercourse with ovulation-depending on what swimmers you want ahead. The odds increae, but no guarantee-please read the book. It has ways to increaing the alkaline or acidity in your inter environment, as well as timing, to increase the odds of the swimmer you want.

I am a psychologist and colloege prof at ta local college and introduce this method in my Human Sexuality and Human Growth and Dev. classes.

Good Luck! Realize though that NO method is foolproof! For everyone out there who swears by one method or another, there is an equal number of people who will refute it! I have four boys and and we TRIED for a girl. I know that it is not always possible! I would not trade any of my sons for anything in the world, but I will always live with a desire of "what if we had a daughter". Two of my sons were "likely" to be girls according to some of the theories out there; clearly they were not. Before getting pregnant for the last time, I mentally prepared myself for a boy. That way I was not devastated when the baby was a healthy baby boy. I was told that this baby was "likely" a girl and this pregancy was TOTALLY different than my other pregnancies, yet my now four-year-old "baby" arrived a healthy, happy little boy. I certainly wish you the best of luck, but be realistic. Before becoming pregnant, be ready to hold, love, and raise another boy. Boys bring a lot of joy too! No plan is foolproof;every pregnancy and baby is a gift, regardless of the baby's gender. Saying all this, please know that I know how you feel. I desperately always wanted a girl, but God had other plans. Take care! K.

Have you considered trading with someone? I hate to break it to you but nothing on the outside works-this is strictly and inside job. Generally it is determined by the male counterpart of your relationship as to what the sex will be, so sit back girl and enjoy whomever shows up and it sounds to me that you are going to love them no matter who....you could start planning on a "5 man" basketball team, or if really brave go for some of the other teams...Have fun and May you have a great pregnancy and beautiful baby!!!!

i my self think it is just chance what we get . i have always heard it is up to the man on what sex of the child is , but i am no doctor .

Look online for the "Ancient Chinese Birth Calendar" (it predicts gender according to mom's age at birth or conception, and month of conception). I have figured all of the moms and their births that I can think of according to this chart, and all but 1 or 2 was true! I know something like this doesn't necessarily have any truth to it, but it's fun anyway!

Mom told me of a book that came out in the 70's. I think it is called "How to determin the sex of your child". She found the book after having four girls. She said she would of tried it. Try the libary.

D., I would suggest reading the quick, simple but powerful book called Supernatural Childbirth. It not only moved me to have faith to have a child in the first place since we had been trying for ten years, but also taught me a little about praying for a certain sex and how that works Biblically. By the way, I was praying to get pregnant by October and also praying for a girl, and when I applied these principals, it changed my thinking and I now have a three year old daughter and was pregnant in July, three months before my deadline of prayer.

There are no tricks you just have to take your chances.

Check out the Chinese Lunar calendar (babyzone has one) for months when you're more likely to have a girl or boy (based on your birthday and month of conception.) I know it sounds crazy, but it's been spot on for myself and all my friends (when we look back at it!)

Good morning, D.! We just went through this, expect trying for a boy. We have a beautiful, almost 3 year old daughter and now a handsome almost 6 month old boy.

I think for a girl, you want to have sex just before ovulation and in a traditional missionary postition (or another postition of lesser penetration). I've also read about diets rich in certain foods "help" to get a girl, but I don't remember now what they are.

Seems like I read about these "tricks" when I was trying to get pregnant with my son, in some sort of magazine about conceiving or conception. I'll bet you could find some info. on the internet, too.

I have no idea if there is anything to any of these posts, but I was reading through and thought I would share. I wanted a Daughter, I thought I would want a boy and a girl, but I knew I wanted a daughter. It took over 2 years for me to get pregnant. I never used any ovulation kits or anything just figured when it was time it would happen. Well the Doctor put me on a low carb, high protein diet, I lost 25 lbs. and ended up pregnant. They say that if you are over weight that your fat cells store estrogen and when you start to lose weight all that estrogen is released making it easier to become pregnant. So that may be the food that was referenced in an earlier post. Being overweight, and this is a bit personal, but if it helps good, my husband and I are only able to do the missionary position, so there maybe something to that. I know my friend prefers to be on top, and she has 2 boys, and I got my beautiful baby girl. It was a very ruff pregnancy and I decided I am not having any more, she is 4 now and I am still grateful to have her. So there may be something to that position thing, but who really knows. If you have a very active sex life, and you can do more than one position, I imagine it would be hard to pin point what position and what day you conceived. I happened to know both, because my hubby has a low sex drive, so it made it very difficult to get pregnant, and I happened to know the exact day.

Try looking up the Shettles method. It's controversial (as to the effectiveness of this method), but it couldn't hurt other than possibly delaying conception.

i've heard suzi's theory as well but i had a boy and we had sex the exact day i would have been ovulating sooo...i'm more of the "there's no way in heck" school lol. besides i think boys are sweeter :) just try to be prepared for a boy then if it's a girl you'll just have a double blessing. good luck!
