Has Anyone "Chosen" Your Baby's Sex?

So funny- I'm in th exact same position and found the same web site. According to the Birth Planning Center there are certain days that are better for conceiving boys or girls- my husband says that's not worth $100. But I'm going to try the Chinese method suggested by some people- why not? Also M., I've heard that the Shettles method is good- there's a book you can buy. It's all about tracking your body temp. and timing intercourse. Complicated, but its supposed to work. I've also heard it has to do with how acidic your vaginal tract is and you can test it to find out if you're really acidic (better chance for girls) or not, but my question is what do you do about it?!If you find something, let me know!! I DO know that you're not supposed to use any douching- they sell viniger and baking soda to change the pH of your vaginal tract. Good luck to us both!

We haven't done the gender selection program, although we are considering attempting to conceive a girl (we already have a boy) as a genetic abnormality that expresses itself much more seriously in boys runs in our family. We have read and will probably use the technique in the book Taking Charge of your Fertility. From my understanding of the online programs, it's basically the same thing except you figure it our yourself instead of letting the computer program figure it out. It is actually very simple---though not 100% guarenteed.

We used a book about trying to determine the gender of your child when we tried for our second. We got pregnant with a girl which is what we wanted. I have since given the book away so don't know the title (do a search on amazon) but I am sure it has the same info that the $100 plan would have. Good luck.

I have a 2 year old boy and am pregnant again with another boy. As my doctor says, any of those tests you can buy are 50% right. You always have a 50% chance of a boy or a girl. The only thing that I did, and was right both times, was the Chinese Gender Prediction which you can find online. Many of my friends did it as well and MOST of the predictions were correct...not all. Hope it helps.

This might sound like a stupid answer, but if you really want a boy, why don't you look into adopting? I have one son (genetically mine, not adopted) and would like another child in the future. I would like a little girl but I know that there are thousands of little girls out there desperate for a good home, a good family and a brother.

Why adopt, when you are keen on one gender?: It takes the "chance" out of everything. It adds to the good of society. It probably costs more than $100 (by thet way, I think the website sounds like a scam and I would avoid it at all costs... especially with a $14 book alternative...) but it will bring another child $1mn worth of happiness and joy.

Saying all of this, I know that adopting can bring a lot of heartache. And you may not be assigned a boy. But I really think it is something that everyone who wants a child should consider.

I don't know about any ancient chinese methods, but my aunt used the Shettles method and it worked 4 TIMES! I say go for it. You could grab the book from the library and not lose a dime.

Please keep me posted if you find something that really works for you. I have twin boys and we want one more baby, and I REALLY want a girl and was wondering the same thing. I am not planning to get pregnant again for 2yrs and am already praying for that girl :)

There is a book called "How to Choose the Sex of Your Baby" and you can find it at any book store or library. Everyone who has tried it says it has worked. Its all about timing and taking your basal temp every morning before you get up and tracking it on a chart. You want to have intercourse no closer than 24 hours before ovulation for a girl. The book gives really good directions you just have to read over it a couple of times.

And then when you get pregnant you can take the draino test to see what the sex is!!! That worked for me. You buy crystalized draino and mix it with urine. If it is a rusty brown than its a boy and sea green is a girl. But beware: it smells really bad!!! Any questions let me know.

There's another website that uses a formula based on biological changes on your body and mathematical formulas based on both you and your husband. It's cheaper than $100. Website is fortunebaby.com. You might want to look at that at it at least for fun. It also has a free ovulation calendar. Good luck!

Hi M.! I live in Lakewood also and with each of my 3 kids I knew what sex I wanted, and luckily got it each time!

What sort of process does this place have? It may sound silly but when I was trying to get pregnant with my kids I used the "Ancient Chinese Birth Chart" combined with WebMD's ovulation calendar. On WebMD you can choose an option that you prefer a girl or a boy and it tells you what months are best.

The ACBC is really old, hence 'ancient' haha. You combine your age and the conception month to come up with a girl or boy month. I know it's not medical or anything but for me it is accurate for all my 3 kids.

This past Christmas my baby nephew Lukas passed away, he was 3 months old. So one thing I have learned is that as Mothers we are so blessed to have healthy living children, and that while we may want a girl or a boy... a healthy baby is above all most important. Good luck on your pregnancy, I have heard about chosing your baby's sex, I have acctually heard a lot of great stuff about it, but I was under the impression it was way more expensive. My husband and I went through the same thing. We have two little girls and are really trying to have a little boy for our last child. I got alot of advice about the "Shettles" method. The book is called "How to Choose the Sex of Your Baby." by Landrum Shettles and David Rorvik. It is all basically about timing and basil body temp. The book really explains things well and walks you through all the steps for sex selection. We were a little reluctant at first because I do believe that what is meant to be will be, but we have 4 couples that we know that were all trying around the same time to get pregnant and read the book, and we have just found out that all four couples are having the sex of the babies that they wanted. So it may be worth looking into. It takes a couple of months to get everything down exactly as far as timing, so if your in a hurry you may want to look into the book right away. We are thinking of starting to try in the next month or two, so I will keep you posted on how it goes. Im not sure how all those other methods work, but I only paid $13.95 for the book, you may look into it before you spend $100. Good luck and let me know if you get any other good advice.

I had a friend who paid good money for this service in Arizona they had 2 boys and really wanted a little girl. Guess what???? They said oh yes it will be a girl, well no it wasn't it was a BOY!!!! So now she has 3 boys and is done, this was 3 years ago so maybe it has gotten better with time, but I would just let nature take it's course and be happy if God blesses you with more children! I used the steps in the book, Taking Charge of Your Fertility to have my son. I believed it worked. I charted my cycle and timed when we had sex to create my boy. If you have questions just write me.

Well, this may sound crazy but here it goes. I found a website that correctly predicted the sex of my 5 year old girl and 8 month old boy. I was already pregnant with my 5 year old and it told me she would be a girl, it was right. I put in my 8 year old girls information in and it said she was a girl...of course I knew that already :) but when we decided to have a 3rd child it told me what month was best for conceiving a boy and it was right! I was even at a party once for a Realtor and was talking to this lady who was going for her 3rd boy and it got all 3 of them right! thats pretty impressive if you ask me :) I believe it was www.chinagold.com. So I dont think you are really temping faith because its just a rough...what month to try kinda thing :) Good Luck!

I have two girlfriends that tried the boy method while having sex and it has proven to have worked for both of them because the both have boys now after each having a girl prior. You can read books on the method or research it online, but it's free. All I know of it is that it has to do with your timing during your ovulation, temperature and discharge. Research it and give it a try!
