I am curious to see if anyone has heard of any "ways" to try for a girl. I already have 2 boys and would LOVE to experience a girl. I know what is meant to be, will be. But at the same time, this is most likely my last child. Help!!!!

So What Happened?

Just wanted to let everyone know that I am now 6 1/2 months pregnant with a GIRL!!!!!!!! After carefully tracking my ovulation, we tried the Shettles method on a Thursday night, I was due to start ovulating on Saturday, and IT WORKED!!!! We did try for 2 or 3 months prior with no success, so it was not immediate. ALSO, I had my last period, ovulated, and concieved all with in the month of April. Which according to the Ancient Chinese Birth Chart found on Americian Baby. com, said I would concieve a girl. So, really, we used 2 methods!!!!
Thank you to everyone for your help and advice!!!! Good Luck to those of you who were also looking for "ways".

Congrats! I tried the shettles method 31 years ago. I got through the part of taking the temp, etc. We were using a condom, and one night husband says, "I think the condom broke". I didn't think too much about it, because it had taken me a yr to conceive both boys. Back then, there was no ultrasound, so for 9 mo, I planned another boy. I got a daughter, what a thrill!

We have four boys (which includes a set of twins) then a baby girl! She was the only one unplanned, we moved two yrs ago to NC from Florida and my husband and I were so happy with the move, relaxed would be the key word here. That is the only thing that changed between the times of conception for us. We did not have hard times conceiving so there was never that stress either. I wish you the best in this adventure and am sorry to hear of your loss. I will pray that you are once again rewarded with a healthy baby!! Good Luck!

I am in the same boat as you are. I have two boys 3 and 1 1/5 I have been on line and I'm considering trying a program called Gender Select. They have a website and I think it is Baby-Gender-Selection.com. I'm interested in reading other responces to your question.

How To Choose The Sex of Your Baby, by Landrum B Shettles and David M Rorvik goes into greater detail about the method discussed below (timing intercourse to occur before ovulation). The authors claim that, when used properly, this method is very succesful, but they also warn that trying for a girl is more difficult than trying for a boy because it's tricker to get the timing right.

Taking Control of Your Fertility: The Definitive Guide To Natural Birth Control, Pregnancy Achievement, and Reproductive Health, by Toni Weschler is a great book that discusses the Shettles method among other things. I had this book a long time ago, but I loaned it out and never got it back, so I'm not entirely certain about this, but if I remember correctly, it has much more information about charting your cycles to determine when you ovulate and might actually make it easier to follow the Shettles method than using the Shettles book alone.

Good luck!

I think it is all up to God, I have 2 boys, I always wanted a girl, but I think the Good Lord knew that my husband could not take another set of female hormones in this house! Mine are bad enough, it would have probably drove him to an early grave!

Since the sex of the baby is not determined until after fertilization, so as far as techniques you are probably not going to be successful. However there is the ability for a doctor to change or determine the sex of the baby and that would have to be something that you and your husband would need to talk about. I personally don't think that it should be done, but there are people who have done it and that would have to be your decision. Or you could consider adoption. You could adopt a baby girl from China, Russia, or even here in the US and that would be a great thing on several levels. I wish you the best as you consider and move toward having another child.

There is a book. I don't know the name of it, but an aquaintence of mine has it. They did this and said it worked! It all has to do with timing, temperatures, etc. Again, check amazon.com for this book under subject matter. The lady I talked to swares by it and so do a few of her friends. I don't know! Just passing this along. Adoption is always a great option! Take care and good luck!

The Dr. Shettles book/tips worked for us. It should be in the library. Ph, timing have a lot to do with it. We had 3 girls, tried the book to get a boy, and we did. The book is very clear though, that this is not a guarantee of one gender or the other but will increase your chance.
So sorry for your loss.

We went through IVF to have our son since I could not get pregnant the natural way (Invetro Fertilization) They are able to tell the gene's and cell's apart from the boy and girl embryos. There are individuals that have desired the same thing. The only way to really know for sure is to talk to an Endocrinologist about having IVF done for choosing the sex of your baby.

Some insurance policies will cover a portion of the cost or at least the drug costs but maybe only for reasons of infertility, not gene choice. However, I will tell you it is not an easy thing to go through, I had hyper stimulation from the drugs and suffered greatly for nearly 3 months. I spent the first two months after having IVF on bed rest until my ovaries went down to normal size, each ovary swelled to the size of a large closed fist and I had fluid build up around one of my lungs. There are risks but thousands of women everyday go through IVF to have children.

Hey, I dont know if this is true or founded...but its a lot of fun. And as a personal experience, when I was prego, I thought I was having a boy and everyone told me I was having a girl! The person doing the ultrasound even thought it was a girl! I just KNEW it was a boy! I went to this website and did the little chart thingy...it said I was having a boy. We went with the ultrasound and planned for a girl...and you guessed it - I had a BOY! The chart was right and its pretty fun! Go to: www.babyzone.com, then click on gender predictor (on the left hand side). It will show you the Chinese Lunar Calendar. Its really neat! Good luck and hope you guys have a girl!

Well you could always have another in 13 yrs from your youngest!!! lol. I have two boys,18 and 15,and thought I'd never have a girl, that is until my grandkids,BOOM,at 37 I was accidently(on purpose)preggers with my BEAUTIFUL baby girl!!! However,I don't believe this is a proven method,ha ha,I was just getting the 'empty-nest' syndrome and wanted another baby, and THANK the LORD I got my baby girl.
Good Luck R.
