Treating/ Diagnosing Warts

My child appears to have what I am assuming is warts. Several small almost scar colored circles on his forehead, barely raised. Then 2 on his arm and one on his side that are similar in appearance to the others but are more raised. Do I need to have a dr. confirm and whats the determining factor between compound w and the need to freeze them??

What can I do next?

I recommend having the doctor treat warts that are on the face. There is danger of scarring with Compound W. I would also want to know for sure that they are warts.

Compound W is a cheaper alternative, but you have to consistently do it over a long period. Freezing is more costly (copay) and painful but instant. My son had a wart, so the dr burned it off but it grew back several times, and it really traumatized my son to get it frozen off because it hurt. I tried compound W and all the home remedies I could find online (garlic, duct tape, colloidial silver, oregano oil). I spent so much time and money trying to rid him of the warts. After about the 5th doctor visit to burn off 4 warts on his hands (they spread) the doctor refused to burn them off since my son was screaming in fear. She said his body will eventually fight the virus on it's own. Many kids have warts, but as adults they no longer have them. I hated that answer since I had just paid a copay just to get sent home, but freezing them off wasn't working either since they kept growing back, so I listened to the doc and gave up the fight. Now my son is much happier, and I'm less stressed because I'm no longer trying to fight a losing battle. Unfortunately more and more have spread. They're on his stomach, arms, legs, back. I don't like them, but nothing I tried worked. All it did was cost us a ton of money, time, stressed me out, and traumatized him. Like the doctor predicted, his body has begun to fight the virus naturally on its own and they are beginning to burst like a blister and disappear one by one. He still has a lot, but his body is slowly getting rid of them. So my advice is just to ignore them and they will eventually go away. There's nothing else you can really do.

Hi C.,
My daughter does have warts and was seen by the doctor and he said to get a wart medicine that has a film like cover on it. I don't have the name here and am not sure where husband put it but it did have the word film in the name. The doc said put it on cover with a bandade then next day scrape off dryed skin and repeat it would take up to 2 wks. Doc said warts are a virus under the skin and can be transferred in a swimming pool or public shower.

Hi, C. -
I would most DEFINITELY see a doctor. Particularly anything on the face. Have a professional confirm that they are simple warts, and allow them to prescribe the best method of treating them.
Good luck.

I would go to the doctor. My son has something similar on his face. It wasnt there when he was little. It turns out it is a mole.

I agree with having the Dr look at them especially on the face.

My daughter just had 2 warts on her hands. I asked for advice on here and was told to try apple cider vinegar and duct tape, do you know it worked like a charm. It took a couple weeks but finally the last one has gone away. My husband is now trying this remedy on one he has on his finger.

I agree that since they are on his face..best for the pediatrician to have a look & see what they recommend.
