I need to fill some Easter eggs with something. I don't really want to do chocolate or candy because I don't want my son to eat it. Does someone know of anything good to put in the eggs???

I am planning to put Juice Plus gummies in my kids eggs this year. I giggle to myself thinking that they think they are getting candy, and instead they will be eating fruits and vegetables in gummie form. Here is the website for more info. http://juiceplus.com:/+jh72997
Good luck! J.

An idea is to give them jelly beans in these different colors, along with this story:

The NEW Jelly Bean Prayer

Red is for the blood He gave,
Green is for the grass He made,
Yellow is for the sun so bright,
Orange is for the edge of night.

Black, white, brown, yellow and red is for the children He made
All of these colors receive the grace He gave,
Purple is for the hour of sorrow,
Pink is for the new tomorrow.

Give a bag full of jelly beans,
Colorful and sweet,
Tell them it's a Prayer....
It's a promise..
It's an Easter Treat!

(print the story on a small piece of paper and put it with the jelly beans in a snack size baggie)

Another thought is to put trail mix (cheerios, raisins, chocolate chips, pretzels) inside a plastic egg.

We have put money in them. Oriental Trading has some cute small toys you can put in them as well. US Toy in Plano at Independence/Parker NE corner has a lot of things similar to Oriental Trading.

The jelly bean story is great but you can't send that to school.

My daughter (13 yrs) and I have a tradition of making candy eggs since she was 1. People start asking for them about 2 weeks before Easter. Last year we made over 300 and had none left! BUT...they do have chocolate.

What about cars, bubbles, fake spiders/bugs/animals, stickers, tattoos, fruit snacks?

What about baby carrots? Healthy and fit in perfectly with the Easter Bunny theme.

There is a vast array of small toys that are made to fit in eggs, but they may be a choking hazard and at the end of the day, it's pretty much just plastic junk. There are small bottles of bubbles - that might be fun if he enjoys bubbles!

I think the answer really lies in figuring out what he would enjoy finding in there :)

Considering where you're located, you're biggest problem is going to be the weather. I'm 3 hours SW of you and I'm already starting to see bees, wasps, and ants cause it's getting warm during the daytime. Whatever you decide, it needs to be something that is wrapped. I would suggest putting like quarters or something in them, but at that age you worry they'll put them in their mouths and maybe choke. Good luck and have a Happy Easter.

Last year we put dollar bills in some of the eggs, gummie snacks (gerber), gerber puffs, a little candy, socks, goldfish and whatever esle I could find down the Easter aisle at the grocery store.

I have always put animal crackers, goldfish, mini pretzels, and cereal in the eggs for my little one (we generally did his eggs pastel and my older son's brightly colored to tell the difference).

Another thing I saw done was to make rice krispy treats and then stuff them inside the eggs. :) They form to the egg's shape and are a relatively healhty snack too.
