what do you guys think? i wouldn't want to do anything full time, but i am thinking of doing maybe a p/t as needed type of care. Since we don't have family in the area there are days that I would like to just get out for an hour to shop or whatever...but doesn't happen really (well on weekens when hubby is home!) So it got me thinking...maybe I should offer it for others...I am sure other people can relate. Maybe a few hours so you can shop, get a mani/pedi, or you work part-time, maybe school/daycare is closed but you still have to work. I don't know really...I don't think I would charge much either...I guess I am just looking for feedback!! Thanks!!!

What can I do next?

Great Idea! Be sure you know the parent and make clear your expectations about pick up time. Some will take advantage. I can definitely use someone like you.... hubby works nights, so it's hard to get away just to quickly shop.... Keep us posted!

I think is't a great idea. If you want to know about the laws for ohio you can check out the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services site. You don't need to be licenced, but you can only have 6 kids at a time and yours count in the total. I would also say that about charging alot, don't undercut your self. Do some research about hourly rates etc... I'm a daycare provider in Kent, and let me tell you that watching 6 kids is no easy job. Good luck and If you decide to go ahead and do it let me know and I'll send people your way if I can. I'll also put your number on my web site if you would like.

I think it sounds great! I would definitely consider using someone for errands. Normally I take my son to my moms, but she's 30 minutes away, so it's kind of a hassle if I just have a few errands to run...but at the same time if I take him it's going to take me even longer to run those quick errands. LOL So yes, I'm sure other mothers could relate, and like someone else said, make sure you are upfront about it only being part-time and when you expect the children picked up.
Good luck!

I run a full time in home child care center, so if you have any questions feel free to ask! I think it's a great idea and there is a need for daycares that don't have minimum hours/days per week.
